Chapter 44
Chapter 44
Chloe was fuming after getting interrupted, and now she was glaring daggers at Olivia.
But before she could even say a word, Olivia snapped, “What’s with you today? Why didn’t you complain about me to Dylan? I waited forever for you to show up with Dylan to yell at me, but you never tame.
“Do you have any idea how much that threw off my night? I missed my prime sleep window!”
Chloe and Dylan were confused and stunned.
As Olivia walked toward them, she said to Chloe, “Forget it. We all know each other well by now. Let me do the tattling for you this time.”
She looked at Dylan and continued, “See that slap mark on her right cheek? That was me. If you know she got slapped by me, you’ll be pissed and stand up for her.
“So I’m going to assume you’re about to attack me for her sake, and I’m just defending myself now.”
Dylan had no idea what was going on. Before he could react, Olivia slapped him across the face.
“You psycho–stop it!” he screamed.
“You already hit him, so you can’t hit me,” Chloe said in fear.
Their screams overlapped, echoing off the walls.
Olivia made sure to be perfectly fair–no favoritism, no bias, just equal treatment for both.
When she finally stopped, Dylan glared at her, gritting his teeth, and demanded, “You treat me like this and piss me off completely–aren’t you afraid that once Grandpa steps down and I take over the family business, I’ll cut off the Kaur family?”
Olivia shot back with a mocking smile, “Even if I tried to suck up to you, it wouldn’t make a difference. As long as Chloe’s around, she’ll never let you help
- me.
“You’d throw the Kaur family under the bus for her. You’d even kick us while we’re down–just to make my life hell and make your side chick happy.”
She’d already figured it out–as long as Chloe was around, she could never count on Dylan. As long as Chloe started crying, Dylan would do whatever she
wanted.
Right now, Morgan was still in charge, which kept Dylan in check. But once he stepped down, Dylan would turn his back on the Kaur family without
hesitation.
So, the only way forward for Olivia was to secure her own stake. Once she had the shares, whether Dylan loved her or hated her didn’t matter anymore.
If the Kaur family’s survival depended on Dylan’s affection, then the day he stopped caring would be the day they’d all go down. It was always safest to keep the bargaining chips in her own hands.
Olivia yawned, turned around, and went back to her room to sleep.
She double–locked the doors and windows and put on her noise–canceling headphones–she wouldn’t hear a thing, even if they started banging on the
door.
That night, Olivia didn’t sleep well. She kept dreaming about Julian, reliving scenes from their time on Silvermoon Island. But the happy moments never lasted long–soon, his sad, accusing eyes would appear, making her feel guilty even in her dreams.
The next morning, when she went downstairs, she saw people moving things into the villa.
Just as she was wondering what was going on, she spotted Chloe, sunglasses and mask on, bossing the movers around and telling them to be careful.

Chapter 44
When Chloe saw Olivia, she lifted her chin. Even with her face mostly covered, her arrogance and smugness were unmistakable
She said, “Dylan told me to move in. Go pack up your stuff and move out of the master bedroom. I’m taking it.
“He said since you don’t treat him like your husband, there’s no reason to treat you as the lady of the house. From now on, I’m the lady here, and the master bedroom is mine. You’ll have to listen to me.”
Olivia replied coolly, “Move in if you want, but I’m not giving up my room.”
Chloe snapped, “Didn’t you hear what I just said? I’m the lady of the house now. If you don’t give up the master bedroom, where am I supposed to sleep?”
Olivia replied, “You can sleep with Dylan. We’ve been sleeping in separate rooms anyway.”
Chloe clenched her teeth in frustration. Of course, she wanted to sleep with Dylan, but he refused–he’d rather let her take Olivia’s room than share his
own bed.
“I don’t care. I’m taking the master bedroom!” Olivia asserted.
Olivia nodded. “Sure, if you’re fine with sharing a room with me, go ahead. Don’t worry. I won’t cross any lines. I’ll just mess with you a little–just like I did last night.”
“You-” Chloe was practically shaking with rage. Just thinking about the beating she’d taken last night made her blood boil.
She hadn’t even complained, but Olivia went and told Dylan what happened and then beat them both up, which was unbelievable.
Unable to out–argue Olivia, Chloe just turned to the bodyguards helping with her luggage and snapped, “Go pack up everything in the master bedroom and toss it all in the trash!”
As she walked toward the kitchen, Olivia said without even turning around, “You’re welcome to do that. But for every item they throw out, I’ll slap you once. Think about how many hits your face can handle before you decide how much to throw away.”
Chloe was so mad that her eyes filled with tears. “How can you be so unreasonable? Dylan said I could have the master bedroom. This is his house–what gives you the right to keep the master bedroom and refuse to give it up?”
Olivia was already in the kitchen, picking out ingredients from the fridge. “This is our marital home. Half of it belongs to me. I’m already being generous, not making a fuss about him letting you move in without my consent. What more do you want?”
Chloe shouted, “The Wilson family paid for this house. You didn’t spend a dime, so this house has nothing to do with you!”
Olivia calmly started washing and chopping vegetables. “So what? Morgan gave me half of it anyway.“.
Chloe, who got upset easily, couldn’t take it anymore. She broke down crying, her sobs so loud that they echoed into the kitchen.
As she turned on the stove, Olivia said, “What are you crying for now? If you really want this place, just have Dylan give you his half. Then it’ll be our new
home.”
Chloe felt like Olivia was just trying to get under her skin. She couldn’t help but think, ‘She knew perfectly well that I’ve been pretending not to care about money, but she just goading me into asking Dylan for the house.
‘And there’s no way I’ll do that–if I do, eight years of pretending will go down the drain.
By the time Olivia finished making herself a bowl of oatmeal, Chloe was still crying. Olivia ignored her, finished her breakfast, and went upstairs to work.
When Dylan got home from work that night, he thought Olivia would come looking for him to demand an explanation. But not only did she not confront him, she looked completely unbothered, as if she didn’t care at all that Chloe had moved in.
That made Dylan even more frustrated, and the feeling that he was losing her only grew stronger. He started to believe that Olivia really didn’t care about him anymore.

He was a mess inside and even found Chloe, who was talking to him gently, annoying. “Shut up,” he snapped, unable to hold it in.
Chloe froze, her eyes instantly filling with tears as she looked at him, hurt.
Realizing what he’d done, Dylan quickly said, “I wasn’t yelling at you. I heard Olivia cursing me in her head–I was yelling at her.”
Olivia couldn’t believe her ears.

Before either woman could question him, Dylan pulled out an invitation and said to Olivia, “My grandpa’s seventieth birthday party is in two weeks. You’re coming with me.”
Before Olivia could answer, Chloe blurted out anxiously, “Honey, can I go with you instead?”
Dylan frowned. “What a joke. Olivia’s my wife. It makes sense for her to go with me. But if you come, people will talk, and my grandpa won’t be happy.”
Chloe bit her lip, looking wronged. “I’m not asking to go as your wife or girlfriend. Just say I’m a close friend…”
Dylan thought for a moment and then agreed. “Fine, you can come, but keep a low profile at the party. Don’t let anyone suspect anything.”
Dylan’s grandfather, Herbert Klein, had been a diplomat before retiring, and he still had plenty of connections in political circles.
His seventieth birthday party wasn’t a huge affair–only relatives and some former colleagues attended. Even so, there were ten full tables, with over a hundred people showing up to celebrate.
The event was held at Herbert’s house–a luxurious villa that had originally been a wedding gift from Morgan to Ellen when she married into the Wilson family.
Herbert, being a government official, never would’ve dared to buy something so extravagant on his own.
When Olivia arrived, arm in arm with Dylan, the place was already buzzing with people. Dylan led her around, greeting relatives and elders.
As they walked into the lounge, Olivia spotted a figure she never thought she’d see here. She froze on the spot, her mind going completely blank. ‘Julian? What’s he doing at Dylan’s grandfather’s birthday party?‘ she thought.
