Chapter 43
Olivia shot him a glance, her tone flat and dismissive as she said, “Oh, congrats. Must be nice having so many women lining up to be your mom and take care of a man–child like you.”
Dylan’s face went dark with anger. “You’re absolutely hopeless. The second you realize you can’t win me over, you start throwing personal attacks. Do you really think pulling this kind of stunt will get my attention?”
Sometimes when someone says something completely absurd, it really makes others want to laugh.
Olivia couldn’t help but let out a laugh, thoroughly amused by his ridiculous theory.
She said, “If you honestly believe this is all just some stunt to get your attention, then just ignore me. That way, no matter what tricks I pull, they won’t work.
“Do you realize what you’ve been doing these days? I ignore you, and you come running. I curse you and even hit you, and you convince yourself I must be madly in love with you, that I’m just using a different tactic to get your attention.
“You’re making it hard not to suspect that maybe, just maybe, you don’t hate me nearly as much as you claim and you actually care about me.
“Otherwise, why would you get so worked up every time I ignore you? Why go out of your way to say dumb things just to piss me off and force me to pay attention?”
Of course, Olivia didn’t actually think Dylan cared about her or liked her. But she knew that deliberately twisting his feelings would make him avoid her like the plague, and he’d finally stop bothering her.
It was true that Dylan had been furious when she pulled away, but that wasn’t love–he just wasn’t used to her not fussing over him.
Even swapping out a pillow that people have slept on for years can keep them up at night.
Not to mention, for the past three years, Olivia had basically been his housekeeper–handling his meals, his tea, ironing and organizing his clothes, even lighting incense to help him sleep.
She’d even learned how to give massages and rubbed his shoulders and back every night before bed.
Anyone would feel thrown off if their super–attentive “housekeeper“, suddenly stopped caring for them. So, Olivia was certain it wasn’t love–Dylan just couldn’t handle her indifference.
Dylan instantly flew into a rage, his hands clenched into fists. “You’re delusional! There’s no way I’d ever like you. I came here to warn you–stop trying your tricks on me.”
Olivia snorted, “And I’ll say it again–if you really think I’m playing games, then just don’t take the bait. After all, my so–called trick is to ignore you and stay away from you. As long as you don’t react, no one will be affected.
“But why are you so mad? Clearly, you care. You can’t stand it when I ignore you.”
Dylan’s face flushed, but he couldn’t come up with a single word to fight back.
That was because Olivia’s logic made perfect sense, while his was all over the place. In the end, all he could do was storm off to his study, fuming with embarrassment.
“He’s so rude–he couldn’t even be bothered to close the door for me,” Olivia grumbled, walking over to shut it herself.
Just as she was about to shut the door, Chloe suddenly rushed over, shoved the door open, and glared at her with a nasty look.
“You really are something, managing to hook Dylan,” she sneered “He used to be so indifferent to you–never even spoke to you unless necessary. And now? He’s always the one coming to you. And he’s not cold anymore. You must be feeling pretty smug, huh?”

Olivia’s lips twitched. ‘Yeah, he’s not cold anymore,‘ she thought. ‘He comes by every day just to yell at me and put me down–honestly, I’d take the cold
shoulder over this.
‘What’s there to be smug about? No wonder they end up together. Their logic is equally bizarre
She gave a half–smile and said, “If you think my little tricks are that effective, want me to teach you? Just do what I did–go slap him across the face twice. I guarantee he’ll start seeing you in a whole new light.”
Chloe couldn’t stand Olivia’s arrogance and raised her hand to slap her. “You bitch! How dare you try to seduce my husband? I’ll make you pay-”
Olivia caught Chloe’s wrist with her right hand and slapped her across the face with her left. The crisp sound of the slap echoed down the wide hallway.
Chloe let out a miserable scream. It took her a few seconds to recover. She glared at Olivia, eyes wide with rage. “Y–You hit me?!”
Olivia shook off her hand. “It’s not like this is the first time I’ve slapped you. Why are you so surprised?”
Chloe’s chest heaved with rage, her voice trembling. “How dare you be so arrogant?! You stole my husband and even hit me. You shameless homewrecker!”
Olivia chuckled and replied, “Do you even hear yourself? Dylan is my husband. You’re the homewrecker.
“You show up acting all self–righteous and try to hit me. I was just defending myself. You should be grateful I’m kind enough not to get back at you.”
Chloe screamed, “So what if you’re his wife on paper? The one he loves is me. The one he doesn’t love is the real homewrecker!”
Olivia replied coolly, “Then you have even less right to talk. You know perfectly well why Dylan likes you.”
Chloe clenched her fists tightly. Her eyes burned red with fury, but underneath, she was deeply unsettled.
She thought, ‘Dylan only likes me because he thinks I’m the one who saved his life–when in fact, it’s Olivia who did. If the truth ever comes out, and I lose that advantage, will Dylan still care about me?
‘I’ve been with Dylan for eight years–ever since I lied to him at sixteen, telling him I was the one who saved him. Even without the backstory, eight years should be enough to build something real, right? But I don’t dare bet on it…‘
Suddenly, an idea flashed through Chloe’s mind. Since that credit didn’t belong to her, she’d earn one for herself. As long as she truly saved Dylan once, then even if that lie came to light, she wouldn’t have anything to fear.
Chloe shot Olivia a vicious glare, spat out “Just you wait,” and ran off to the study.
Olivia figured Chloe was going to tattle to Dylan, and that he’d be coming to defend his precious girlfriend any minute now.
She cracked her knuckles, already gearing up for a good fight. If the two idiots showed up, she’d beat the crap out of them.
But she waited for a long time, and neither of them came. Rolling up her sleeves, she marched straight to the study.
The moment she opened the door, she saw Chloe sitting on Dylan’s lap, her arms wrapped around his neck, looking shy and a little nervous.
“Honey, how about I give you a baby?” Chloe asked.
Dylan sat there, staring down in silence. Normally, he would’ve pushed her off right away. No way would he have a kid out of wedlock.
But just thinking about Olivia’s attitude and all the things she’d said to him made his chest burn with anger.
He definitely didn’t like Olivia. To prove it to himself, he wrapped his arms around Chloe’s waist. Their faces slowly drew closer.
Just as their lips were about to touch, the study door was pushed open. They turned and saw Olivia barging in.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of Dylan’s lips as he thought, ‘She said she didn’t care about me, but her actions tell a different story.
