Chapter 2
Angela sat motionless on the bench, her frozen fingers gripping the edges of the coat wrapped around her frail body. She could infata a ques that was emitting off his jacket. It was relaxing, calming her nerves.
The smell of smoke lingered in the air, a ghostly reminder of the man who had momentarily crossed her path.
Her thoughts swirled like a storm–who was he? Why had he bothered to help? No one ever helped her. No one was kind to her. Though that man sounded so rude and intimidating; he gave her the coat and treated her wounds. Angela was so engrossed in his thoughts that she forgot the paid and turmoil she was going through.
The loud noise of the cars passing by was the only indicator that she was close to the road.
A sudden gust of wind sent a sharp pain through her bandaged feet. She inhaled a shaky breath, suppressing the urge to cry. She needed to move She needed warmth. But where could she go?
Before she could decide, a familiar voice called her name.
“Angela?”
She turned her head toward the sound. “Sasha?”
Soft hands grabbed her shoulders. “What happened to you?” Sasha’s voice wavered with concern. “Your foot–oh my God. You’re freezing”
Angela felt herself being pulled up, guided by Sasha’s firm grip. “We need to go back home,” Sasha murmured.
Angela recoiled. “No. I can’t.”
“You don’t understand,” Sasha whispered.
“It’s not safe outside. I’ll talk to my parents. They’ll understand. You can’t stay out like this. A lot of kidnappings and robberies are happening these days. I’ve heard that some mafia had taken over our neighborhood-” Sasha said when Angela cut her off.
“It’s not safe for me in your house as well. Uncle tried to hand me over to some man for a business deal. I can’t go back, God knows what he’d do to me now,” Angela said shakily as Sasha continued to pull her along.
“I’ll talk to Dad. He won’t do anything. Trust me.” Sasha said and this time Angela decided to go back hoping that Sasha could save her because she too was afraid of the dangers of staying outside. The guy who gave her the coat and shoes felt like a good man but not everyone was like him. What if she stayed outside and someone might abduct her, rape her and cut off her limbs. The thought alone terrified her to her core. Aunt Natasha used to say to Angela when she was young that if she tried to ever run away then someone might do these things to her and ever since then she was afraid, so very afraid.
Sasha opened the door of the house using her keys as they stepped inside. They could hear Natasha’s voice.
“We should sell her. It would be for the best. We could use the money to start over our business again,” Natasha said, Angela froze. Her heart jumped to her mouth as she stood there frozen. Sasha stepped forward getting her parent’s attention.
“Mom,” Sasha said in shock garnering their attention
Angela’s heart clenched. “Sell me?”
Dimitri stepped forward glaring at the girl. His eyes narrowed on the coat on her shoulders and the sleek shoes she was wearing he didn’t wait a single second before he charged forward grabbed her arm and yanked her closer making her whimper in pain as pressure got onto her injured foot.
“Who gave this to you?” Dimitri hissed as she tried to free her arm but he only tightened his hold making her cry out in pain.
“Let go of her, Dad,” Sasha tried to free Angela from Dimitri’s hold but Natasha stepped forward grabbing her daughter, she dragged her to the nearest room, locked her in despite her struggles, and pleaded to not hurt Angela.

Chapter 2
Tell me who gave this to you? Are you f*cking someone behind our back?” He spat and her blood turned cold. Ander surged forza de Dimitri’s chest but her strength was nothing compared to his. He ripped off the coat and yanked at her hair.
“Who are you sleeping with?” He growled, making her flinch as she shook her head vigoroutly. “H… No one, She cried out because he was pulling, hair with such force that her face was to the ceiling and her scalp burned.
“Don’t f*cking lie to me,” Dimitri spat as Natasha came back after locking Sasha in the room:
“She’s blind. Someone must’ve found her pitiful,” Natasha said as Dimitri jerked her away roughly motioning at Natasha to take Angela and lock her up.
Natasha locked Angela in one of the rooms. The girl was trembling in fear as tears kept streaming down her cheeks. She curled up in a small ball in the corner of the room hugging her knees to her chest. Angela touched her foot. It had stopped bleeding earlier but with Dimitri’s rough handling, it was bleeding again and wetting the cloth which that stranger had tied on her foot.
Angela shuffled through the room, realizing it was the same storeroom where she lived. She grabbed one of the scraps from the drawer as she cleaned the wound with the cloth while crying like a baby. She could feel the warm blood on her fingertips. Angela wrapped the scrap around her foot so it wouldn’t bleed. It helped a little but still, she could feel slight blood making a spot on the piece of cloth.
The door burst open and someone grabbed her arm. By the brutal hold, she knew it was Dimitri as he dragged her out of the room. “Let m.me go,” She stuttered but he didn’t stop.
A second voice shattered the fragile moment of her struggle. “Well, well….what do we have here?”
A shiver ran down Angela’s spine. The voice was unfamiliar, yet it carried a cruel amusement that made her stomach turn as Dimitri shoved her forward.
Before she could react, rough hands grabbed her arms.
She barely had time to scream before darkness swallowed her whole.
