Chapter 496
She had no idea what had happened earlier.
The people inside heard the noise and turned to look toward the door.
Leonard was carrying some things in his hands.
When he saw Lucas walking in with a woman, his expression immediately darkened.
“What the hell is going on?” Leonard stormed over to Lucas, grabbed him by the collar, and demanded, “This is who you’ve been taking care of? You just left her here alone?”
Faced with Leonard’s accusations, Lucas seemed powerless, unable to offer a rebuttal.
Even he had to admit he hadn’t handled things well when it came to Aurora.
Lucas didn’t speak and tried to step past Leonard to look at the bed, but Leonard blocked his way, his tone dripping with contempt.
“A man like you–do you really think you’re worthy? You couldn’t even take proper care of Aurora. What right do you have to see her?”
That hit a fire in Lucas.
He broke free of Leonard’s grip and shot back, “The one lying in that bed is my wife. And you? What are you to her? What gives you the right to speak to me like this?”
“I may not be her husband, but at least I’m more qualified than you.”
The two of them stood at the doorway, trading barbs without holding back.
Wendy stood awkwardly between them, annoyed but also a little jealous.
Why did no one ever fight over her like that? Why couldn’t this kind of drama ever happen to her?
She clenched her fists, her face full of envy and jealousy.
Finally, she couldn’t help but speak up. “Um… maybe you both could stop arguing for a second?”
Lucas and Leonard turned to her at the same time and snapped in unison, “Shut up!”
Wendy froze, looking left and right in confusion.
Why were they suddenly so united? They weren’t like this just a moment ago.
Weren’t they both just shouting about who was unworthy?
How did they suddenly become so united?
Lucas narrowed his eyes, clearly irritated, and shot Leonard a sharp look. “Who gave you the right to tell her to shut up?”
Wendy perked up inside–was Lucas defending her?
Leonard, though aware he might’ve crossed a line, still didn’t think he was in the wrong.
“So what? She came here with you–what kind of person could she be? I just said what everyone’s thinking. What are you going to do about it?”
Seeing how brazen Leonard was only made Lucas angrier.
His rage boiled over, and without warning, he threw a punch at Leonard’s mouth.
Leonard didn’t even have time to react.

The fist landed squarely on his face, and a sharp sting exploded at the corner of his mouth.
Wendy was stunned. This was the first time she’d ever seen Lucas so reckless.
Wasn’t he always that aloof, untouchable figure in public, like some flawless angel above it all?
But this version of Lucas, trading blows at the hospital door, suddenly seemed much more human.
Wendy even started to wonder–was this really the Lucas she knew?
Leonard wasn’t going to take the hit lying down.
He gritted his teeth, let out a cold snort, and retaliated without hesitation.
The two of them threw punches back and forth at the doorway, completely ignoring the stares around them.
Wendy was stuck between them, helpless, caught in the chaos with no idea how to break them apart.
Blow after blow, neither man backed down.
