When Chris went to pick up Jessica, the drinking party had already ended.
Most of the the Fame Group people had left, only a few the Wilder Group staff remained to clean up.

“The contract has been signed. The rest will be handled by the project team. Shannon, find someone to keep an eye on it.” Jessica rested her head on her hand, her side profile slightly flushed, as if she had drunk quite a bit again.
“Okay, got it. I’ll call the driver to send you home.”
Shannon reached for her phone, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw Chris standing at the door and quickly put the phone
away.
“Mr. Green is here–that’s perfect. Ms. Greyson and the others also drank a bit, there aren’t enough cars. Mr. Green, you can take Ms. Wilder home.”
Chris was speechless. If he hadn’t overheard the driver being called outside, he might have really believed it. Shannon had been with Jessica for many years and truly cared for her. She also knew who the right person was. Hearing Chris’s name, Jessica tried to stand but staggered, nearly falling. Shannon quickly caught her. Looking down, Shannon saw Jessica squinting her eyes, clutching her hand firmly, clearly not drunk. It was only then did Shannon realize that Jessica was pretending to be drunk.
She felt that it was a good thing that Chris wasn’t someone to overthink things.
Chris came over and pulled Jessica into his arms.
“I’ll take care of her. You all be careful on your way back.”
“Okay.”
Seeing Jessica’s unsteady steps and how hard it was for her to walk, Chris didn’t hesitate and simply carried her in his arms.
Indya had really drunk quite a lot, she was sitting and drinking tomato juice silently, just watching the two figures.
“Tsk, I told you, Jessica’s taste can’t be that bad. Five or six years ago, she liked someone like Michael–that was one thing. But after seeing someone like Chris, how could she still go back to an old flame?”
Shannon wasn’t in a hurry to leave either. She called the manager in and ordered some more food.
At drinking parties, people usually didn’t eat enough. A few random dishes got cold quickly, they drank while pushing forward contract progress, always tense and never feeling hungry.
Shannon snorted. “Everyone thinks Jessica was deeply in love with Michael. Even Michael himself believes it. If it doesn’t look convincing, how will the aftermath be handled?”
“So you all even called Jennifer back and made her act as a nanny? say, that’s a bit too much effort, right?”
“The Hall family bought an IT company abroad. Tracking and monitoring devices are useless, for high–end technology, you need an even stronger opponent. Who would’ve thought the hacker was right inside their own home?”
Indya smiled and clinked her tomato juice with Shannon’s lemonade.
“Why do women have to make things hard for each other? It’s so tough for women to survive in this circle. Didn’t you see how those the Fame Group’s men acted? They’d love to tear us apart.”
Everyone struggled, life was never easy.
Chris took Jessica home, smelling of alcohol.

She had to shower and change into pajamas.
Chris frowned and held back his irritation for a long time before finally removing Jessica’s outer coat.
When only her underwear remained, Jessica suddenly wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
Her red lips, now faded without lipstick, revealed only a soft pink.
She opened her eyes and smiled at Chris.
“Chris, am I pretty?”
Chris’s Adam’s apple moved, but he said nothing.
Jessica was naturally beautiful–not like ordinary beauties.
She was the kind who stunned at first sight, growing more captivating with age, her beauty bold and wild, sharp and edgy.
Five years of marriage hadn’t faded her beauty, it only added charm.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Jessica’s red lips neared his ear and gently bit his earlobe.
“Chris, we’re husband and wife. You can do whatever you want.”
