Chapter 43
Indya paused, then tapped her head. “I’ve been drinking too much lately. It came up last week. It was at one of the PR circle’s dinners. I went with Irene. From a distance, I saw someone who looked like Mr. Hall. I wanted to go over and check, but he disappeared.”
After dragging several investors around for a few rounds of drinks they finally learned that the person was Michael’s cousin, named Luke.
Luke now managed both of the Hall family’s investment companies.
Again, it was the Hall family.
Shannon came out of the restroom, and while washing her hands, he told Jessica, “Jennifer said Mr. Hall went out and even brought a thermos, saying he make something to help you with the hangover.”
“Did you asked Jennifer to come back?”
dya asked in surprise.
Shannon shrugged helplessly and pulled out a tissue to dry her hands.
She said, “What else could we do? Ms. Wilder has just been divorced! If Jennifer doesn’t come back, I’m afraid Ms. Wilder won’t even be able to find anyone.”
Thinking of Chris also being at the Cosmos, Jessica frowned slightly and reminded Shannon, “That’s enough. You all head back first, I’ll go to room 230.”
Since Shannon had been nearby, she had heard Ethan say Chris was in room 230.
Chris and Roy hadn’t been drinking, one was going back to the Felton family, and the other to his ex–wife’s place, so drinking wasn’t suitable.
While they were talking, there was a knock at the door.
“Come in.”
When the door opened, Jessica leaned against the doorway, her gaze first locking on Roy, then she smiled at Chris.
She asked, “Why didn’t you say you were having dinner here?”
Chris was surprised and didn’t expect Jessica to find her way here.
Jessica was even more surprised to see the other person in the room. It was a member of the Felton family.
“Finished?” Jessica walked over and sat beside Chris, directly taking his hand.
She said, “I still have some things to do. You should go home first.
At this, Roy felt confused.
“Didn’t you say you were divorced?”
Jessica’s gaze darkened, a moment of chill passing through her.
Chris didn’t know how to explain and could only turn to ask Jessica “You’re here for business too?”
“Yes.” Jessica looked up at Roy across from them.
She asked, “Aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Helpless, Chris said, “This is my childhood friend, Roy. This is my wife, Jessica.”
Since Jessica was there for business, and there might be business partners outside the door, he couldn’t say she was his ex–wife.
Jessica was certain Chris wouldn’t call her an ex–wife, so she nodded to Roy and said, “Hello.”

“I’ve heard about you. When you got married, I was out of town, and only my sister attended the wedding. You should know her, Nina.”
The three exchanged some polite but hollow greetings.
Chris took Jessica’s hand and led her out into the empty hallway.
Jessica grabbed Chris’s chin, and before he could speak, kissed him
Jessica had only had a little to drink, and she smelled warm and fragrant.
Chris was completely sober
“Why didn’t you reply to my messages?” Jessica took control, trapping Chris with no room to escape.
Chris glanced around nervously, afraid someone might approach.
“My phone died.”
He hadn’t lied.
During the day at work, he rarely used his phone, and soon after arriving at the private room, he realized the phone was switched off.
He thought Jessica would be late returning since she had business arrangements to attend to and didn’t worry about it. She huffed, released his hand, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him again.
“I’m in room 260. Wait for me and we’ll go home together.”
“We’re almost done here. How long are you going to take?”
“You’re not allowed to leave anyway. By the way, is Roy really your childhood friend? I don’t remember you mentioning him.”
