Chapter 42
“Man, I hadn’t even said anything yet, but you’re already defending her.” Roy waved his hand. “Getting a divorce is nothing. You rushed into marriage back then, I didn’t approve either. You had a chance to study abroad, but because you married her, you gave it up. Forget it, why not continue your studies?”
Chris nodded. “I’m currently working at the Summit Infirmary.”
“That’s good. A man should have his own career.”
The waiter brought the dishes while Chris and Roy continued talking.
Over the years, Roy faced many dangers abroad, and now that he was back, the Felton family didn’t want him risking his life anymore.
The Felton family, like the Wilder family, was an affluent family in the city, with generations of merchants. Only Roy was a police officer, who also followed the right path, so the Hall family didn’t interfere much. “What about Nina? Haven’t heard news about Nina for a while.”
Roy had a younger sister named Nina Felton, who managed tthe Hall family’s entertainment business.
She was rarely seen in public, but several times when Chris and Jessica attended dinners, Nina was also there. “She’s attending a conference abroad, probably won’t be back until next month.”
While eating, they chatted about childhood memories.
Coincidentally, Jessica was also doing business at the Cosmos, in a private room at the end of the corridor.
There, toasts were made freely, and both sides drank quite a bit.
This private room was personally managed by the
manager.
When he saw Jessica, he remembered Chris in the other room.
He recalled recent news and knew about Chris and Jessica’s relationship.
Taking the chance to replace Jessica’s plate, he lowered his voice and said, “Your husband is also at the Cosmos, in private room 230.”
Jessica wiped the corner of her mouth with a tissue and looked at the manager upon hearing this.
Few people knew the Cosmos was a Wilder family enterprise.
Since Jessica took office, she had expanded the entertainment and dining empire.
Opening the Cosmos was partly to gather insider information.
To the public, the owner was someone from out of town, and only the manager Ethan watched the store daily.
Only Ethan knew Jessica was the real boss.
“Who is he with?”
Ethan had never met Roy and was unsure, only feeling he looked familiar.
“A man. He came early and waited in the private room. Judging by his demeanor, he might be in politics.‘
Chris knew people like that?
After a short silence, Jessica nodded, indicating she understood.

Both sides brought professional PR teams, which did all the drinking.
Jessica and Shannon worked in harmony, the contract was nearly done. During the meal, the legal team could revise the contract terms as needed.
The team from the Wilder Group was always cutting–edge and precise. While the dishes were changed, several ladies went to do their makeup.
Indya Greyson, Director of the Wilder Group’s PR Department, took a hangover pill and touched up her lipstick in the mirror.
“The bid for the Fame Group was settled long ago. If no one meddles to inflate prices, it wouldn’t have dragged on. Ms. Wilder, do you have someone in mind?”
Jessica leaned against the marble edge of the sink, focusing on her phone.
She had sent Chris several messages but hadn’t received a reply.
Knowing Chris was at the Cosmos, she wanted to go check on him
“There are a few candidates, but none seem likely. Calum is looking into it.”
Indya said, “Didn’t I tell you? A few days ago I saw the Hall family’s nephew, Luke Hall, secretly meeting with someone from the Fame Group.”
Upon hearing this, Jessica turned around, placing one hand on the counter. “No.”
