Chapter 41
“What?” Shannon was momentarily stummed by the completely related conversation.
Jennifer laughed and pointed outside the window. “A new model Porsche, all Blue Star Diamonds, only one in the country. I think I won’t mistake the car for someone else’s.”
Shannon tilted her head and immediately stood up. “No way!”
Someone really was having their car towed right outside the Wilde Group?
Thinking about her own car being towed, Shannon felt a wave of embarrassment.
Jessica suddenly remembered she hadn’t told Chris about tonight’s dinner arrangement, so she quickly made a phone call
Actually, Chris also had a date that evening.
Recently, his relationship with Jessica had stabilized, resembling their early days of marriage, which pleased Jessica very much. but Chris felt ameasy.
Seeing someone you haven’t forgotten every day could easily make you fall in love again.
Besides, Jessica now was completely different from before she cared about his emotions and even found joy in some of his expressions, paying more attention to him than all the past five years combined.
If this had been before, Chris would have been overjoyed.
But now, as a divorced couple, Chris only worried.
“Roy!”
Before Chris reached the private room, he saw someone standing at the door making a phone call.
He happily called out, and the other person raised a hand in acknowledgment.
“Alright, got it. Keep an eye on it, don’t act rashly.”
After hanging up, Roy Felton walked over and sized up Chris, tapping twice on his head. “You haven’t changed these years, just look less energetic. What, did getting married make you age?”
Roy and Chris were childhood friends, living in the same courtyard as kids.
Later, Roy got into the police academy while Chris went to medical school.
There was even a time Chris considered switching to forensic medicine just to help Roy.
At the Cosmos, a private dining restaurant, only ten tables were available every night for privacy, all in private rooms.
Many people liked to do business there because the food was good and it was discreet.
Roy had just returned from handling a case abroad.
“Don’t blame me, Roy.” Chris felt a bit embarrassed.
“You stayed abroad for half a year and got so tanned. Why did you come back now?”
“The case abroad was hard to solve. It’s actually not fully closed yet. The suspect escaped.” Roy lit a cigarette and watched Chris carefully, sensing he was avoiding something, his eyes flickering slightly.
He cocked his brows and asked, “Is there something you want to tell me?”
The two were very close, meeting almost every month in Cheria, Jessica didn’t know about Chris’s meetings with Roy.
Back then, Jessica didn’t care about him or want to know his friends

Several times Chris wanted to invite Roy home to introduce his neighbor to his wife, but never got the chance.
NOW.
Chris smiled bitterly, nothing really escaped Roy’s eyes.
“I got divorced.”
Roy frowned, “That woman from the Wilder Group? Didn’t you like her a lot? Why get a divorce all of a sudden?”
Come to think of it, Roy had noticed recent news about the Wilder Group, rumors about that woman having an affair during marriage.
Could it be?
Seeing Roy’s sharp look, Chris quickly explained, “No, I divorced Jessica because… there was no love left. Roy, I don’t like Jessica anymore. She only got in touch with that man after we divorced. It’s alright.”
Roy laughed angrily at his anxious explanation.
