tearing the mention of River Crescent, Mr. Hickey’s expression immediately darkened, and the other shareholders turned their gazes toward him.
People like them having some secrets wasn’t unusual, but they hid them well and never used their own names to buy properties. They would usually use the names of their spouses or family members.
Jessica hadn’t expected her to have such great skills to actually find out about it.
“How did you…”
There was still much more behind the file, but Jessica was in a good mood after catching Chris’s attention. She didn’t want to continue discussing it and just wanted to quickly go back with him she closed the file, placing it on the table and pressing down
with her hand.
“I know a lot more, not just about Mr. Hickey.” She leaned back, her whole body relaxing as she spread her arms out. “You ali can try to bring me down, but my mother’s methods will be even harsher than mine.”
Over the years, she had tolerated the shareholders‘ small tricks in their positions. She turned a blind eye to them because everyone loves money. Small amounts didn’t bother her.
But she would never allow anyone to develop ambition.
Ambition that was too big would lead to danger.
After the meeting, everyone’s face was grim. Jessica had made a clear and open warning. The matter with Mr. Hickey was a direct warning to them.
“The little girl has a lot of tricks up her sleeve,” Mr. Hickey cursed angrily as he returned to his office. Harry Watkins followed him in, closed the door, and sat down across from him. “What’s going on? How could Jessica find out about the woman you’ve been keeping outside?”
Mr. Hickey had a furious look on his face. “How could that happen? I’ve kept it hidden so well! Damn it, it looks like we need to get rid of that young lady!”
“No, didn’t you hear what she said? Even if she’s dead, there’s still Mrs. Linda. You know what Mrs. Linda is capable of. If you lay a hand on her daughter, do you think you’ll survive?”
“What should we do then?”
“Let’s wait and see.”
Back in the office, it was very quiet. Jessica couldn’t find Chris and was about to go out to search for him when she noticed the door to the lounge was open out of the corner of her eye.
She often worked late at the company, and the office was connected to a small lounge where she occasionally rested.
The lounge door was open, and there was a dim light inside. Jessica walked over quietly.
Chris was already lying on the bed, fast asleep.
She sat on the edge of the bed, raising her hand to trace his brows and eyes. She had known for a long time that Chris was very handsome, always so gentle with a face that made people feel at ease when facing her.
She just hadn’t expected that the normally cold–faced Chris would look so handsome.
“Don’t make a fuss, let’s live a happy life,” said Jessica as she bent down and kissed his cheek. “Stay by my side.”
Chris didn’t know when he woke up, but there was a small body next to him. He shifted slightly and realized it was Tassica.
She had fallen asleep beside him, completely unguarded.

After a long silence, Chris got up and walked outside.
What was this?
Over the past two years, they hadn’t spent much time sleeping in the same bed. But now, after their divorce, they were lying together again.
Chris felt exhausted and wanted to go out for a cup of coffee.
However, when he entered the tea room, he saw Shannon..
“Mr. Green?” Shannon was holding a coffee cup and was about to leave when she turned and saw him.
He nodded. “You haven’t left yet?”
Shannon sighed. “There’s online public opinion to deal with, and the PR department is all working overtime. I need to keep an eye on things. Is Ms. Wilder in the office?”
“She’s asleep.”
