Evangelina’s POV
My bond is buzzing as I finish my shower. I’m not sure what came over me at that moment, but Veena was right in tellings.
to ask about Hadley and the rejection.
Yes he wanted to reject me before, but it was because of his first mate. She betrayed him and he thought that I would do the same. Was that fair to me? No, but he also thought about his pack and how they would react. He also thought about me and how that would make me feel if the pack reacted badly towards me. There was more to it than his hatred of rogues.
Also the fact that he was honest with me about Hadley and the fact that all he wanted was her told me that he only hurt me because of the stupid love spell.
Him taking 3 years to make her his chose Luna tells me that although he fell to the lust part of the love spell, he still looked out for his pack and if I was a betting woman I would say that the only reason he made her his chosen was because she upped the dosage of the herbs, or was able to put the sigil under his nightstand. Then when I looked into his eyes as he said sorry, I saw the grief and raw emotion there, telling me that he was being honest.
All of this just overwhelmed me and I kissed him. After our lips touched my bond sparked to life and I wanted more. Needed more. Now I am getting dressed after showering off the s*x smell and my bond is pushing me to go to Warrick and complete it. I don’t think it will be long until I allow that to happen. I just need a little more time to make sure that this caring and loving person he is showing me is his true self. I need to be 100 percent sure of who he is, not the 90 percent that I am now.
After I finish getting dressed I make my way to the dining room. I walk in to see Marie, Tali, Iris, Henry, and Mason all sitting at the table. Iris is blushing at something Mason said and I smile to myself as I make my way through the line, grabbing two of everything and taking it to the table. I set one plate of steak and potatoes down in front of one empty seat, then another one down in front of the seat I am taking. Marie looks at me curiously and I shrug my shoulders as I take a seat.
“Where’s Linc?” I ask Marie.
“Oh he is with Nali, she hasn’t been feeling too well today.” Iris answers before Marie could.
“Morning sickness.” Marie adds and Tali nods.
“Oh. I should make her some of my mother’s tonic. That worked well for me when I was pregnant with Ziana.” I say and they all grow quiet and look at me. “What?” I ask, looking around at the table in confusion.
“This is the first time I have ever heard you talk about..” Marie trails off and my face falls. Of course it is, I normally avoid everything that happened in the past.
I am pulled from my thoughts with the chair next to me scraping against the floor. I feel sparks erupt across my temple as Warrick kisses my forehead. He takes a seat in the empty chair next to me and smile.. “You didn’t have to get my dinner for me.” He says as he places a napkin on his lap. I feel a blush work its way up my neck. I hear a little squeal and look toward the noise to see Iris beaming at our exchange. “Uh… What the hell is happening?” Tali asks, looking between me and Warrick. I take a bite of my potato to

avoid the question and watch as Marle leans Into Tall.
“They f*cked.” Marie says NOT in the whisper that she made it seem like. I inhale and begin to choke on the potato. Warrick hands me a water and I wash it down.
“Marie.” I choke out, who then shrugs.
“Maybe you shouldn’t do it in public places. I had to keep people from walking in the garden, even though we could all hear you and knew what you were doing.” She says and my eyes widen as my face turns bright red. “Marie, that’s enough. We did not do what you are saying and quite frankly it is disrespectful to talk to your Alpha that way.” Warrick says from my side and puts a hand on my thigh, squeezing it in reassurance.
“I’m happy for her. It’s been long enough for her to wait and I am glad that you pulled that stick out of your a*s and finally saw what you were missing.” Marie says to Warrick and my jaw drops.
“Marie.” Tali hisses and elbows Marie.
“No, she’s right about the stick. It was just wedged so far up that it took forever to get out.” Warrick jokes and Marie smiles, while the others balk at Warrick.
“Oh brother, how I have missed you and your horrid sense of humor.” Tali says and Warrick laughs.
“Horrid? I’m hilarious.” He says, placing a hand over his heart dramatically.
“Yea, a real comedian over here.” Henry says smacking Warick’s chest playfully.
“So, you’re not an a*s hat anymore?” Iris asks and I bark out a laugh.
“Wow, you’re not one to hold back are you Iris?” I ask and she shoots me a look, then turns her attention back
to Warrick.
“No, mother, I’m not as you so eloquently put it, an a*s hat anymore. Well. I am working on it at least.” He says and she nods at him, then turns her attention to me.
“Are you going to accept the mate bond and mate him, or just soil my gardens with your nefarious ways?” She asks and Mason laughs, earning himself a glare which just bounces right off of him.
“Why did you say it like that, if you didn’t want people to laugh?” Mason says, while Iris continues glaring at him, then turns back to me, opening her mouth as if she were going to say something, but is interrupted by Mason’s hand on her arm.
She turns to him with her glare and he gives her a look.
“Iris, let the kids work it out withOUT you interfering anymore than you already have. Obviously they are working on it.” He says and she grinds her teeth as he raises an eyebrow at her.
“Fine.” She grits out as she looks down at her plate.
I look around the table to see everybody has their mouths open slightly in surprise at the exchange. It takes a lot for something to make Iris be quiet, so maybe Mason is her good thing. And ours.
