Chapter 20
The next day, Caitlyn noticed that Leon’s dark circles were completely gone… Her emotions grew complicated.
‘Touching his head really works that well? Maybe I should start charging a fee the next time Leon wants it, Caitlyn thought.
Unfortunately, as a man, Lord Radford only had the courage to ask for a head pat when Caitlyn had just finished changing his bandages, his heart still fluttering, and his feelings of dependence at their peak.
That night, although his eyes were filled with longing, the wicked Demon Lord, Caitlyn, pretended not to notice and slipped into her room.
It was kind of fun.
The stubborn Leon didn’t go knocking on her door. He thought, ‘Hmph… I’m in a pretty good mood right now.
‘There is no way I’ll act like a needy puppy begging for attention. If anything, it should be the other way around!‘
That night, while imagining Caitlyn turning into a cute little kitten, snuggling up to him and acting all clingy, Leon drifted off to sleep.
But Leon slept… okay. It seemed like without something real to hold, it was still missing something.
Leon started thinking… Could he maybe use the excuse of “helping a friend” to convince her to be his pillow?
After staring at Caitlyn for an entire day, Leon concluded that he would probably get kicked out the door if he tried.
What a pity… But that didn’t mean there wouldn’t be a chance in the future, right?
Leon was holding onto that glimmer of hope, and soon, the dreadful Monday finally arrived.
Ekavine City… couldn’t make every day a Sunday, huh? Damn it…
Today was Lady Caitlyn’s first day as a “Triple–S.”
After the former Demon Lord stepped down, Caitlyn still had to make a living, so she embarked on the journey of working for a living.
Eating breakfast while heading toward Ekavine Academy, Caitlyn kicked Leon’s heel with clear dissatisfaction.
Leon turned back with a puzzled look.
“I’ve decided. You have to pay me back with more interest! If you hadn’t spent all that money, I could’ve stayed home for at least another month!” Caitlyn declared.
Leon thought about the expenses he might have caused. Ignoring the sofa and the carpet, the biggest cost of his stay for half a month was probably… the phone?
“If that’s what you want, I’ll pay you more,” Leon replied.
Leon didn’t really mind the money. As long as she didn’t kick him out…
In this world, aside from Caitlyn, Leon had no one else…
Leon frowned a bit, unsure of exactly what he felt for her… His only friend?
Maybe it was just that he cherished her? But even that didn’t feel quite right…
All Leon knew was that he didn’t want to leave.
“And rent!” Caitlyn suddenly added, tilting her head as if she was calculating how much to charge him. “Hmm… it’ll be expensive!”

“Okay,” Leon answered.
Seeing him agree so easily, Caitlyn couldn’t help but glance at him a few more times.
‘When we’re enemies, he has never been this obedient…‘ Caitlyn muttered.
“Then…can I collect the debt from when you… uh, hit me last time?” Caitlyn asked.
“Oh no… we’re running late! It’s not good to be late on your first day at work. Come on, let’s go,” Leon said, speeding up his pace.
Caitlyn snorted, squinting her eyes at his back. She clearly saw it–his lips curled up just now…
“Jerk… I swear I’ll get even someday!” Caitlyn muttered.
Obviously, Lady Caitlyn hadn’t yet realized that living under the same roof, she–a spellcaster–was utterly at a disadvantage against Leon, a thick- skinned warrior.
Ekavine Academy: where practical combat and theoretical teaching went hand in hand.
Unlike the purely academic universities in the Human Alliance, Ekavine’s massive institution was a mega–integrated academy of various disciplines.
Most of its students were heroes, hunters, and demon warriors.
Of course, there were pure academic students too, but they were a minority.
Walking into the academy, Caitlyn yanked Leon, who looked like he was about to wander off in the wrong direction, and led him toward her building.
Leon turned his head, scanning his surroundings. Just like last time, anyone who dared to look at Caitlyn for more than a second got a deadly glare from him.
As a former superhero and the Knights, Leon’s stare had a weight to it. Naturally, none of these young students still in training could handle it.
Leon got more and more into it, catching random “lucky ones” and glaring at them, timing how long they could last before breaking eye contact.
Leon scoffed, “Man… kids these days are just getting weaker. Not a single one can hold my gaze for more than three seconds.”
Caitlyn shot him a look, utterly speechless. She murmured, ‘This guy and his weird hobbies…
‘Normal strangers don’t even stare at each other for more than three seconds! And he looks so intimidating while doing it…
‘Anyone who doesn’t know him might think he’s just escaped from an asylum.
‘And in this world, people with mental issues are extremely dangerous.
If they weren’t a total maniac, they were probably absurdly powerful.
‘If they weren’t a total maniac, they were probably absurdly powerful…’
‘In fact, many of the world’s strongest are a bit unhinged. Just like this guy…
Caitlyn grabbed his sleeve, her face darkening as she dragged him to the right. “If you don’t know the way, can you at least follow me? We’re really gonna
be late!” she said.
“Mm…” Leon quietly retracted his gaze.
Not far away, a freshman from the cultural studies department, who had just been targeted by Leon’s stare, collapsed to the ground, trembling.
After a moment, she clutched her face, stumbling back to her dorm in tears. “I… I’m dropping out… It’s too scary… I’m going home…!”

Chapter 20
Caitlyn’s pointed ears twitched slightly. She glanced back with a frown, then checked the time, sighed, and ignored it.
Then Caitlyn pulled Leon forward, quickening her pace toward the classroom building.
Finally, thirty seconds before the bell, Caitlyn arrived in front of the classroom door.
Caitlyn stopped, took a deep breath, and then pushed the door open with a stoic expression.
It wasn’t intentional; most of the time, Caitlyn was pretty indifferent. Outsiders described the former Demon Lord with words like “unfeeling,” “cold,” “aloof,” and “powerful.”
It was only when dealing with this idiot Leon that her mask sometimes cracked…
In this world, there were very few who dared to treat her so casually–Leon was definitely one of a kind.
Watching his… landlord walk in with that imposing aura, Leon stood at the door, smiling with satisfaction before slipping in quietly.
Leon strolled over to a guy who was slumped over his desk, tapping him on the shoulder. “Hey, man. Class is starting…”
The guy frowned, turning around groggily. “Who… Dude, I was sleeping so well…”
Leon blinked, amusement flickering in his eyes. “I’m new here. Is this class pretty chill? Not important? Can we just slack off? The teacher’s not strict?”
The guy looked confused for a moment. “A new guy? A month after the semester started?” He stretched lazily, waking up a bit, and grinned at Leon. “Well, whatever. You asked the right person, man!
“Lemme tell you… This class is just theory–total snoozefest. I don’t even get why they make us do theory classes. Actual combat’s way more useful…
“So yeah, just take it easy here. I heard we got a new teacher today.
“The last one was this old dude. You just signed in and bounced–he didn’t even care. Wonder what this new one’s like…
“But eh, doesn’t matter. Theory class teachers are usually pushovers. If they try to act tough, we just… have a little ‘chat‘ after class, you know?”
The guy chuckled, cracking his knuckles, making his meaning crystal clear.
Leon squinted, still grinning. He didn’t reply.
“I’m Alex Sharp. What about you? Since you woke me up, guess it’s fate. We should grab lunch sometime,” Alex said, glancing toward the podium before his eyes lit up.
Alex continued, “Damn! The new teacher’s a total babe! And she’s smoking hot!
“Teaching theory? Man, she’s gonna have a bad time… Bet no one’s gonna pay attention, and tons of guys are gonna try hitting on her.”
Leon’s eyelid twitched hard, his fists clenched tight, but his smile only grew wider. “Hitting on the teacher… that’s fine?” he asked, still smiling.
“Yeah, why not? As long as you’re not too obvious, nobody cares,” Alex replied.
“Really…” Leon’s grin got even brighter.
Alex shivered slightly, scooting back a bit nervously. “Dude, why are you smiling like that? You’re not… you know… into guys, are you?
“I think I’m good, man. I’d rather hang with the hot teacher than-”
Leon’s eyelid twitched again.
Alex suddenly shivered again, glancing around. “The hell? The AC’s not even on… Why do I feel like I’m about to die or something…?”
