Chapter 17
Leon sat quietly, feeling her touch, and gradually calmed down..
Everything around him seemed different now.
The ticking of the clock became clearer, the faint sound of wind outside mixed with bird songs. The room was warm and cozy, making him feel relaxed.
Caitlyn stared at his peaceful face, her cheeks getting redder and redder.
It was just a simple act to help him sleep. But somehow, she couldn’t calm down.
‘Why is this guy so obedient…‘ she complained inwardly.
“I’m going for a nap.” With that, Caitlyn let go of her hand, her face flushed, and she scurried back to her room like an escape.
Leon slowly opened his eyes, glanced at the closed bedroom door, and let out a soft sigh. He gently touched his face, which was gradually getting
warmer.
However, he didn’t notice the subtle curve that had appeared on his lips. “I’ll take a nap too.”
When he woke up, it was already sunset. He stretched and walked out of the room.
Caitlyn glanced back at him with a complicated expression.
‘Wait… Just a pat on the head, and it actually worked?
‘If I opened a clinic for insomnia, wouldn’t I make a fortune? Ah… too bad, Leon is fine, but I really don’t want to touch anyone else’s heads,‘ she thought.
Caitlyn suddenly froze, then quickly slapped her own cheeks. ‘No, no, friends are okay to touch each other’s heads, but the others can’t,‘ she defended inwardly.
After all, she was a former Demon Lord. Not just anyone deserved to be her friend.
“Caitlyn, are you okay?” Leon asked, looking a bit worried as he watched her suddenly slap herself. ‘Had she slept too much?”
“I’m fine!” Caitlyn glared at him with slightly red cheeks.
Leon rubbed his nose, silently turned on his phone, and sat down.
Time for dinner. But with not even a single spatula in the house, they had to order takeout again.
Leon glanced at the room and narrowed his eyes slightly, thinking he should buy some groceries and try cooking himself so they could save a bit on food
expenses.
‘Yeah, I’m a thrifty guy!‘ he thought.
Two pastas, pretty tasty and generous portions, both of them stuffed.
Caitlyn rubbed her belly, slightly worried about her weight.
‘Been slacking off so long, hardly moving, shouldn’t gain much fat, right?‘ The more she thought, the more anxious she got.
Finally, she stepped on the scale by the wall.
Caitlyn looked down at the flashing numbers, swallowing hard. The scale showed 0.3 pounds more than last time.
Leon walked over curiously; Caitlyn quickly stepped off, expressionless.

Leon blinked. “Lost weight?”
Caitlyn’s face darkened, and she turned towards the bedroom. “I’m changing for a walk!”
“Sure.” Leon had no objections.
It was cool now, a nice evening walk after dinner sounded good.
As for running into overly enthusiastic citizens, he could take them to Ekavine enforcement for some extra cash.
C’mon, two of the strongest on the surface together? The world should be scared.
The short skirt she was wearing earlier might not be as cool as her bedtime tank top, but it seemed she never wore it outside and only kept it for home
use.
It had been so long since he first met her, yet every time they met, she was always so well–covered.
For some reason, a flicker of secret delight suddenly stirred in Leon’s heart.
Only he could see Lady Caitlyn at home.
As he mused, Caitlyn opened the door and stepped out, her gaze shifting to him with a slightly disdainful expression at his mischievous grin.
Leon coughed softly twice, quickly recovering his composure and glancing at her before saying, “You should grab another coat to put on; it’s easy to catch a cold in such weather.”
Caitlyn glanced down at herself, having just changed into a floral dress that cascaded down to her ankles, while her beautiful legs remained encased in white stockings.
Though it was long–sleeved, it was neither particularly thin nor notably thick.
Leon stood by the gate with his arms crossed, giving off the clear message that he wouldn’t let her leave without putting on an extra layer of clothing.
With a sigh, Caitlyn had to go back inside to grab another small jacket.
“Happy now?” she asked.
Leon slightly curved his lips, stepping aside to open the door. “Your Majesty, please.”
Caitlyn gave him an icy look and walked out.
At night, Ekavine was bustling with activity. Besides being known as the neutral city and the City of Chaos, it has another nickname: the City of Timeless Night.
Ekavine was prosperous; even with human–demon conflicts and constant outlanders‘ invasions in this chaotic era, it remained lively.
As they walked down the street, the shops were still open, their lights illuminating the entire avenue with a particularly bright atmosphere, a stark contrast to the desolate and chilly rainy night when Leon had arrived earlier.
Walking down the street gave one the illusion that even if you pulled out all the streetlights, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference.
It was getting deep into fall, and the night breeze was a bit chilly.
Leon followed Caitlyn slowly, stepping in her footsteps like a little kid.
Without a doubt, Caitlyn was a looker, and Leon’s appearance wasn’t half bad either. The contrast between the two–one tall and the other short, one mature and the other young–caught the eye even in Ekavine, a place where weird stuff happened all the time.
The greenery on both sides of the street was quite abundant, indicating that Ekavine placed a significant emphasis on landscaping.

Chapter 17
While following Caitlyn, Leon kept an eye on her head, catching every leaf that fell with precision.
Suddenly, Caitlyn stopped in her tracks. Leon, who was having so much fun with his head up in the clouds, ended up bumping right into her.
A pleasant aroma wafted into his nostrils, and he managed to stop himself from taking another step, yet still gently pressed against Caitlyn’s back.
‘Yeah… I’m injured now, so it’s reasonable not to react quickly. It wasn’t intentional to bump into her,’ he thought.
Leon, being a gentleman, quickly backed off and didn’t try to take any more advantage of Caitlyn.
Caitlyn turned around with a poker face and said sternly, “Choose! Stand next to me or in front of me!”
She seemed a bit angry.
Leon whistled while keeping his hands behind his back as if nothing had happened and stopped beside her.
Cleia sighed as she glared at the childish fool, her face solemn as she waited for the traffic light to turn green.
‘So, does getting hit hard make men become more childish? When we fought before, he didn’t seem this childish…‘ she wondered.
After they crossed the road and entered another street, a delicious smell filled the air.
As cars passed by, there was suddenly an open space ahead with barbecue stalls by the roadside giving off joyful smells.
Caitlyn licked her lips and swallowed secretly. ‘Can’t eat… can’t eat. Otherwise, walking would be pointless,’ she said inwardly.
“Do you want to eat?” asked Leon suddenly.
