Betrayed by Blood
The air was thick with tension. The gathered warriors stood before Cain, their eyes hard with determination. The battlefield hadn’t been chosen yet, but the war had already begun the moment Matt made the mistake of going against him.
Cain stood at the front, his presence alone commanding absolute silence. He scanned the faces before him–men and women who had fought for him, killed for him, bled for him. And tonight, they would do it again.
“This is not a fight for mercy,” Cain began, his voice carrying across the courtyard, steady and sharp. “This is a war of vengeance. A war of dominance. Matt tried to have me killed, and in doing so, he sealed the fate of every man and woman who stands with
him.”
A growl of agreement rumbled through the warriors.
“Anyone who stands in our way dies,” Cain continued, his voice dropping lower, deadlier. “Burn everything. Spill their blood. Leave no survivors unless I say otherwise.”
Another growl, this one louder, more savage. The warriors banged their weapons against their armor, fangs flashing.
“Move out.
At his command, the warriors shifted instantly, bones cracking, bodies contorting as thick fur took over their human forms. The air filled with deep growls as the pack fell into formation, ready to descend upon Silver–moon like a stor
Cain shifted in an instant, his massive black wolf towering over the rest. His blood–red eyes gleamed dangerously as he threw back his head and let out a bone–chilling howl.
The war had begun.
The journey to Silver–moon pack was swift. The moment they crossed the borders, the alarm rang through the enemy pack.
Cain watched as Matt’s warriors scrambled into formation. They were not prepared and still were not enough.

He unsheathed his sword, the weight of it familiar in his grip. “Kill them all.
And then hell broke loose.
Everywhere erupted in chaos, perhaps they hadn’t been expecting this. Blades clashed, arrows cut through the sky, and the scent of blood filled the air. Wolves howled loud as they attacked each other.
Silvermoon’s borders crumbled like dried leaves under Vehiron’s assault. The first line
of defense barely put up a fight before they were ripped apart.
Snarls and yelps filled the air, claws slicing through flesh, teeth sinking into throats. Blood stained the ground, the scent of death clinging to the air like a second skin.
Cain tore through wolves, his massive form nothing but a blur of black death. His fangs. snapped around a warrior’s throat, ripping it open in one savage motion before moving
on to the next.
Matt’s warriors fought back, but they were outnumbered, outmatched, and most importantly–scared.
They had heard the stories.
They knew exactly what Cain was capable of. And yet, they still tried.
Foolish.
Cain slammed into another wolf, sending it crashing into a tree with a sickening crack. A second later, he was on it, claws slicing deep into its chest before his jaws crushed
its skull.
Blood dripped from his muzzle as he turned his gaze toward the mansion ahead.
Matt was inside.
And he was running out of time.
Cain let out a sharp growl, signaling his warriors forward. By the time Cain reached the mansion doors, they were already thrown wide open. His wolves had stormed inside, searching for their prey.
The mansion was in shambles. The once grand hall, lined with luxurious furniture and portraits of Silver–moon’s past alphas, now reeked of blood and fear.

Cain shifted back into his human form, his body bare but drenched in the blood of those who had been killed. He barely seemed to notice as he stepped forward, his green eyes scanning the room.
The scent of fear was thick in the air.
His warriors had already begun dragging out those who remained–servants, guards who had surrendered, and those too terrified to run. Among them were three women, trembling, their faces streaked with tears.
Victoria.
Matt’s mother stood in the center, her hands gripping the arms of her daughters, holding them close. Despite the terror in her eyes, she lifted her chin, trying to maintain the poise of a Luna.
Cain exhaled sharply, rolling his shoulders before taking slow steps toward them. His presence alone sent a wave of fresh fear through the crowd, the hostages shrinking back as his gaze landed on Victoria.
His voice was deceptively calm when he spoke.
“Where is he?”
Victoria flinched, but she didn’t speak.
Cain’s lips curled into something almost amused. He looked past her, scanning the terrified faces of the others. “Surely someone here has an answer.”
One of the warriors gripping Victoria’s arm tightened his hold, forcing her forward slightly. She gasped, but still, she didn’t speak..
Cain tilted his head, gaze darkening.
“Let me make this clear,” he continued, his voice eerily soft. “I have no patience for cowards. Your son sent men after me. He failed.” He took another step closer, watching the way her body tensed. “And now he’s run away like the spineless rat he is.”
Victoria’s lips trembled, but she stayed silent.
Cain let out a short chuckle.
“I should kill you all for his mistake.” His gaze roamed around then stopped at Victoria

once again. “Especially you. You’ve given birth to two spineless cowards. You should be ashamed.
A sharp sob broke the silence. One of Matt’s sisters clutched her mother’s sleeve, tears streaming down her face. “He–he’s gone, she choked out. “Matt ran. We don’t know where, I swear-”
Cain’s gaze flickered to her. Then back to Victoria.
Silence stretched for a long moment.
Then, Cain let out a breathy laugh, low and dangerous.
“So predictable”
He turned to his warriors. “Take them.”
A fresh wave of cries filled the hall as the warriors moved, securing every single person left in the mansion. The remaining pack members didn’t dare fight back. Some sank to their knees, already accepting their fate.
Victoria’s breathing turned shallow. “Cain, please-”
-Cain’s gaze snapped to her, and she flinched.
“You don’t get to beg,” he murmured, stepping closer, until he towered over her. “Your son sealed your
fate the second he decided to send those amateur assassins to me.”
A shudder ran through her, but Cain was already turning away.
“Take them as slaves,” he ordered. “Matt has no idea what he is in for. He can never
o me.”
