Lincoln’s POV
What is going on? What is wrong with her?” Maxwell asks, panicking. I can’t answer him. I am frozen on the spot, watching Even writhe on the bed. She is pulling at the cuffs and clawing at her arms, tears still streaming down her face as she screams in agony. Her eyes are still transparent, but flicker colors every now
and then, like she is attempting to use different gifts.
“Why does she need to be cuffed? Somebody should be in there with her.” Maxwell continues, while pacing in
front of the window to the cell.
“Calm down. I told you that the effect is like she is reliving the past. Her memories were blocked, so she is living those memories again.” Esmorelda says, trying to calm Maxwell down.
“Is she supposed to be getting injured too?” Maxwell snaps.
“No. That’s not how it works.” Esmorelda says.
“Then, why the hell is she bleeding?” Maxwell says, jamming his finger into the mirror pointing at Evan. It’s then that I notice the small amount of blood starting to seep through the bandage.
“She was injured at training.” I answer without thinking.
“WHAT? Why hasn’t it healed!” Maxwell yells.
“It hit her wound from yesterday, it should have healed by now.” Nali says.
“Well it hasn’t. We need to get Laughtness.” Maxwell says.
“I agree. It is getting worse.” Esmorelda says and I glance at her then back to the cell. There is now a larger
blood spot on her top.
A few minutes later Laughtness walks as fast as she can down the stairs and looks into the cell window.
“I can’t do much, it has been too soon after her last healing. I need to look at it.” She says and opens the cell
door.
An electric charge fills the air from the cell, making the hairs on my arms stand. Evan’s screams get louder as
the door opens all the way.
Evan is still thrashing on the bed and Maxwell reaches to hold her hands down so that Laughtness can look at her. Evan’s screams get louder as contact is made to her skin.
“NO! Please don’t! Stop!” She screams. Laughtness holds her hands above Evan’s abdomen and closes her eyes. She stops abruptly and her head snaps to me. Her old eyes, looking at me scrutinizingly.
“I will need to sew her wound. She needs to be calm or I won’t be able to sew her properly.” She says and I nod my head. I grab Evan’s legs while Maxwell holds her hands. Evan is still thrashing so I put vines around her to hold her still, the vines burn off immediately, and I get shocked. Her gifts are acting out.
“I need her calm!” Laughtness snaps at me.
“I can’t calm her.” I say back./
“Then go get her mate you idiot.” She snaps back and I stare at her in disbelief.

Chapter 78
What?” I ask and she narrows her eyes.
I have helped her through multiple betrayals. They have been stronger since being here. Even with the betrayal, she will feel the bond and mistake him for her last.” She answers me. I nod and run out the door, putting the agonizing screams behind me.
Warrick’s POV
My mother came into the hospital right after I got the news. She is livid.
“That evil witch is poisoning you. I knew that you would never have picked her as a chosen mate.” My mother rants for the thousandth time. She is pacing the floor of our hospital room, ranting and raving, throwing her hands all around the air.
“Mother, we don’t know it was her. Somebody had to have given me the herb before she even came here with her father.” I answered her again. The door swings open and the doctor walks in and looks at everybody, then his eyes land on Jax.
“You are positive as well Beta.” The doctor says to Jaxon.
“OH! That explains everything!” My mother shouts as I look at her in question, then to Jax. He hangs his head, then pushes his hands through his hair and pulls.
“You haven’t been yourself with Evan. Am I wrong?” My mother says to Jax and I suppress a growl at the mention of Evan.
“You’re not wrong. Somebody must have given me the herbs and did the ritual to link the feelings to Evan.” Jax said and I shook my head, trying to clear my mind of the anger building. The doctor hooked up the same IV flush I have to Jax, to help flush out the love herbs.
“I don’t understand.” I say as I shake my head.
“I DO! The vile creature you chose to be your mate. She poisoned you, then when Evan cam along the b*tch felt threatened and tried to get rid of her by poisoning Jaxon!” She shouts pointing her finger at the man in the bed across from me. I look in his direction and he shrugs his shoulders.
“I mean it makes sense.” He answers.
“There is no proof of..” I am interrupted by a commotion in the hospital hallway and the door bangs open.
I see a disheveled Linc, panting in the doorway.
“We. Need. You.” Linc says in between breaths.
“What’s going on?” I ask as I stand up and rip the IV out of my arm.
“Evan needs you.” He says and Viggo surges forward as Linc turns to leave. We follow Linc and the closer I get to the cells the more unease I feel. As soon as the door swings open I hear her screams and Viggo pushes us forward. We see the twins standing outside of a cell and when I enter, there are three of Evan’s elders in the cell.
“YOU?!” Maxwell yells.
“What?” I ask.
“You are her mate?! You motherf” He starts.
“Maxwell! Enough!” An older woman snaps.

Chapter 78
What is going on?” I shout over the screams of my mate writhing on the bed. She is screaming and pulling at her hair. I notice the silver chains on her and panic.
1 need you to hold her hand as I stitch her wound.” Somebody says. I stare at Evan, then move to grab her hand. I feel a shock travel up my arm, but the familiar tingles follow. Her eyes shoot open and I am surprised to see that her eyes are translucent.
“Xavier? What? But they killed you.” Evan says to me. My confusion must show on my face because I feel an elbow to my side and hear Linc whisper to play along.
“No. No they didn’t. I am right here.” I say and take a seat in a chair next to the bed. Her screams stopped, but now she is sobbing. I reach for her face with my other hand and wipe away the tears.
“Shh. Darling I am right here. Don’t worry.” I say but she continues crying.
I didn’t notice that the older woman had stitched Evan up and had left. I also didn’t notice that the only
people in the cell were me, Evan and Linc.
“NO!” Evan screams which causes me to let go of her hand. She starts writhing again and screaming. I quickly reach for her again and she stops convulsions, but continues turning her head and screaming.
“I know that you’re busy, but could you stay until this has passed? I can’t stand to watch her like this. It’s at least a little better when you are here.” Linc says and I nod my head.
“I’m not busy.” I answer and he nods his head and walks out, standing at the window along with Maxwell, an older woman I think is the witch elder, the twins, my mother and Jaxon. All of them were talking loudly, but all I heard was muffled voices. I sigh and rub my temples. Now they know that I am her mate. The feeling of shame I have washes over me even more. I have treated her terribly, I pray to mother moon that she forgives
- me.
