Chapter 68

Warrick’s POV

The next training session I am instructing along with Linc, Marie, and Jax. Evan and Henry are taking part in this session. Hadley changed and took a shower, stating that she would be down in a bit,

During the whole training I couldn’t stop staring at Evan. She was graceful with everything she did, I could tell that she was holding back during the spar part. She was giving the girl she was sparing with pointers and tips on attacking and defending. It was more of a training session instead of a sparring session. When it came to the time trial, she was encouraging and didn’t let the fact that they were behind others deter her from giving encouraging words to her team. Even though they came in 5th they still looked happy. Once they crossed the finish line she went back to the group in last place, encouraging them and they ended up passing two other groups. She even ran with the last group around their extra five miles. I couldn’t help the lump in my throat that formed, she was such a good person that it almost hurt me. My heart ached at the thought. She was supposed to be mine, and yet I have another.

As she was running with the last group I felt a nudge on my side and looked down to see Jax looking out at the group in awe.

“I think I’m in love.” He said, nodding toward Evan. I had to hold back my growl, clenching my fists in anger.

“Oh yeah?” force out and he nods his head.

“Do you think I should go for it? I mean she is perfect and I feel this strange pull to her.” He says and my brows furrow. She isn’t his mate, she is mine. So why does he feel a pull?

“Probably because she is perfect in every way and you are stupid.” Viggo grumbles in my head and I shake it, trying to get rid of my anger.

“You don’t think so? You think she is out of my league don’t you?” Jax asks and I realize that he saw my head shake. Before I could answer I felt an arm snake through mine and around my back. I look down and smile as Hadley’s green eyes shine into mine. I hugged her in response.

“No. Go for it Jax.” I find myself saying, not really knowing why. It feels wrong. His face lights up and a wide smile appears on his face..

“Man, I didn’t realize that was the push I needed. Thank you.” He says as he all but skips to where Evan is now, speaking with Henry and Marie. Sweat glistened her body. The blood from earlier is still freckled on her arm, but it is mostly gone.

“Are we done now? I’m hungry.” Hadley wines and I look down, warring with my emotions,

“Yes we are done.” I say and turn around, putting my arm around her shoulders as we walk to the Something feels so wrong about this, but another part of me says it feels right.

Evangelina’s POV

After training we clean up and get the field ready for the next session. I leave it to the trainers and Marie before I take my leave. I take a shower and change my clothes and go to walk out of my room when I sense somebody standing outside the door. Furrowing my brow in confusion and open the door, looking up slightly to meet the eyes of Jaxon. They seem to almost sparkle the orange tint almost lighter.

“Jaxon?” I ask and his smile falters slightly, but it stays.

“Hey! I wanted to see if you would like the official tour now.” He said and I shook my head slightly as ! carefully walked around him.

“I have already had my tour from Warrick, why would I need another one?” I ask, looking at him skeptically. “Well because I doubt he actually gave you a good tour. You got a general one from Iris and a slightly more detailed one from Warrick. I’m here to give you the nitty gritty details of the place. It could help you with finding weak points too.” He answers and I sigh.

“I can’t right now, I have another matter to attend to. Maybe after lunch?” I suggest and he frowns before he smiles again.

“Yea, lunch. I can meet you in the front hall at 12 and we could go to lunch. There is a small diner in town that has the best home cooked food. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.” He says and I startle slightly. I didn’t say anything about getting lunch with him.

“Um… Actually I was thinking after lunch, around 1:30.” I say, not knowing how to approach this.

“That is perfect, the diner opens at 12:00 and closes at 8:00.” He says excitedly. Why is he not listening to a thing I say?

“He is, it’s called selective listening.” Veena says and huffs in response. Maybe he is just being nice, but what Iris told me remains. Warning me that he likes me.

“Look. Jaxon, I appreciate the gesture, but I don’t want to date anybody. I hope you understand.” I say, deciding that being blunt is the right course of action here. He laughs nervously.

“Not a date. I promise. I just thought that we could get lunch before the tour. Muffins can’t hold you over until dinner. Just thought you might want some good food.” He said and I eye him cautiously.

“Ooookay. Well as long as it’s not a date we could go. I’ll make sure Linc and Marie come too. They still need a tour.” I say and I see the smile on his face drop slightly at the mention of other people joining us. “Great. I didn’t think about that. The more the merrier.” He says and I nod, walking to my office. I don’t know where this weird behavior came from, it’s like he has been possessed. Veena snorts at the thought.

I walk into my office and find that Violet and Aster are there waiting for me. They both wear smiles on their faces. I think the boy’s smile stems from his mothers.

“Have you made a decision?” I ask Violet and she nods her head.

“Yes. We would like to join your pack. I met a lot of people at breakfast, and they are all so nice. You have a wonderful and welcoming pack. I want us to be a part of that.” She says and I smile.

“Thank you. My pack thrives on being welcoming. We can do the paperwork and I will introduce you to Daunting. He is one of my full breed dragons, maybe he can help you break through the barrier with your dragon.” I say and she nods her head excitedly.

“Thank you.” She answers.

We do the initiation, which is harder on me for a species other than wolf. Dragon shifters I have found are harder on me than most. Dragon’s are powerful and they have to accept my leadership, sometimes it takes some coaxing for them.

After the initiation I introduce Violet and Aster to Daunting. They made their way outside, while I made my way to the front foyer. Jax, Henry, and Linc are talking, while Marie is wearing her usual resting b*tch face.
