“Useless bunch,” Joseph muttered under his breath.
He paced around the room, going over everything that had happened recently.
Something about Aurora didn’t sit right with him.
Back when they were together, she had pretended to be so meek and obedient.
But the moment they broke up, her true colors began to show.
“Aurora, you bitch! If you want to play dirty, don’t blame me for being ruthless. Let’s see who has the last laugh.”
Gripping his phone tightly, the veins on the back of his hand bulged.
He recalled someone close to Vanguard Group, someone who held a decent position in the
company.
He was determined to make Aurora pay.
There was no way she could be allowed to get this project.
Joseph made a call to a senior executive close to Vanguard, instructing him to swap out the voting form Aurora submitted for a blank A4 sheet when the project decision came up.
The executive hesitated at first.
After all, the hot spring project was highly valued by their CEO.
Pulling tricks like this, if exposed, could cost him his job.
But Joseph reassured him, “She’s just a broke student interning at Walton Corporation. She’s got no connections.”
That eased the executive’s concerns.
Joseph ended the call, and only then did the cold, hard glint in his eyes begin to fade.

Aurora studied data from Vanguard’s previous projects, diving deeper to figure out what kind of style they were really after.
With the comparisons, she did manage to uncover a few insights.
Lucy saw her working so intently all day that she didn’t dare interrupt her.
Near the end of the workday, Aurora stretched her arms.
Her delicate, petite face wore a lazy expression, and her relaxed gaze narrowed slightly.
Just then, the project manager, Hank Smith, walked up to her.
He cleared his throat and looked at her. “Aurora, thank you for your hard work on the Vanguard project lately.”
Aurora gave a faint smile. “It’s nothing, Mr. Smith. It’s not hard at all. I’m contributing to the company.”
It was her way of fighting for herself too.
“There’s still a while before the project wraps up. You don’t need to push yourself so hard.”
Hank’s eyes shifted uneasily.
Aurora found his behavior odd today. “Mr. Smith, if you have something to say, just say it.
“If this project goes through, it’ll be great for the company. There’s no need to say things like ‘thank you‘ or ‘sorry for the trouble.“”
She didn’t care for empty praise.
“Alright then. Tonight, I want you to attend a gathering with me. Mr. Warren from the materials supplier and Mr. Lowe from the cement company will both be there.
“If we can strike a deal, we might be able to reduce part of the project’s budget.”
Aurora’s eyes flickered.
Those names sounded familiar.
She was sure she’d heard them somewhere before, but for the moment, she couldn’t recall exactly where.
“Alright, I’ll go.”
It was just a dinner for Walton Corporation.
Hank finally let out a breath of relief. “Great. After work, wait for me. We’ll go to Grand Light

Aurora gave a slight nod and said nothing more, diving back into her work
Since this was an assignment from her superior, there was no reason to refuse
After all, she was just an ordinary employee now.
