After Marcus placed the takeout in the fridge, he came out and
found her still sitting motionless on the couch. He knew exactly
what was going on.
He thought, “She was struggling again, wasn’t she?
It seemed like it would take time for her to fully accept me.
Well, no rush. She already married me. No need to push her too hard. There will be plenty of chances down the road.”
With that thought, he poured Abigail a cup of warm milk and gently said as he handed it to her, “Drink some milk. I still have work to finish, and I’ve been working late recently. The study is close to the guest room, so I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight so I don’t disturb your rest.”
Hearing this, Abigail felt a pang of admiration for how hard Marcus was working, and at the same time, she secretly brea” ed a sigh of relief.
She took a sip of the warm milk, feeling it slowly warm her heart.

Marcus smiled gently, and before heading off, he ruffled Abigail’s
hair.

She thought, “Why does it feel like Marcus sees me as a child?
He loves ruffling my hair so much.”
After finishing the milk, Abigail stood up and went back to her
room.
Once inside, she quickly noticed some changes in the master bedroom.
Her suitcase had been moved from the guest room, and the closet had been rearranged to make room for her clothes. There was even a new vanity table.
