For the signing ceremony, three representatives from Envision Group were present, including the project manager Michael
Smith.
As he surveyed the conference room, Michael noticed Caroline and James seated across from him. He frowned slightly and asked, “Where is Ms. Winchester?”
Caroline’s expression darkened momentarily at the mention of Abigail, but she quickly put on a smile. “I’ll be taking over this project from now on. Abigail will be leaving the Winchester Group soon, and I’ll assume her role,” she explained, her tone almost smug as if it were a foregone conclusion.
Michael raised an eyebrow.
He was interested in collaborating with the Winchester Group because of Abigail’s skills and integrity, not because of who managed the project.
However, seeing James at the meeting made it clear to him that the Winchester Group was resolute in this decision.
The project had taken nearly two months from site selection to finalization, and the contract needed to be signed today.

After a moment of contemplation, Michael took the document from his assistant and said, “Let’s proceed with the contract
signing.”
He signed his name first and then pushed the document towards
Caroline.
Feeling a surge of pride, Caroline realized that signing the document would make the project officially hers.
She eagerly picked up the pen and twisted it open, but when she attempted to write, she found the pen didn’t work.
As she shook the pen and prepared to try again, the conference room door suddenly swung open.
In walked Abigail, dressed in a simple white suit, her hair in a low ponytail, and wearing 0.3–foot–high champagne–colored heels.
“Sorry, I’m late!” Abigail smiled at Michael, then pulled out the chair next to Caroline and sat down.

Abigail gave Caroline a knowing look, took the contract from her hand, and said with a smile, “This project is mine, so of course, I
need to sign the contract. It wouldn’t be right to have someone
else do it for me.”
Caroline paled at Abigail’s insinuation and glanced at James for
support.
James, visibly irritated, shot Abigail a hostile glare and scolded her, “You have no manners. Who gave you permission to barge in? You’re making us look bad. Leave now!”
Abigail raised an eyebrow, chuckled, and replied, “Don’t worry, Mr. Winchester. I’m very familiar with Mr. Smith. I’m sure he doesn’t mind this little breach of etiquette. Do you, Mr. Smith?”
Michael was stunned.
He hadn’t anticipated this turn of events at the signing ceremony.
He recalled rumors he had heard suggesting that Abigail wasn’t actually a biological member of the Winchester family.
Was he inadvertently getting caught up in a family power
struggle?
Michael didn’t want to become embroiled in such complexities.

Every extra day introduced more risk, especially since they weren’t the only ones vying for a partnership with Envision Group during this time.
To avoid further complications, James replied, “Mr. Smith, Abigail has been dismissed. She has no right over this project anymore.”
He shot Abigail another threatening glare, hoping to silence her.
He knew her temper. While she could be a bit headstrong, she usually understood the bigger picture.
He didn’t think she would jeopardize the interests of the Winchester Group for her own benefit.
Abigail’s heart sank, but she sneered, “If the project is being handed over to Caroline, may I ask a few questions?”

Abigail smirked and asked, “Among the materials included in the design plan, which ones are our responsibility, and which ones will Envision Group need to purchase?”
Caroline froze, panic flashing in her eyes.
She had no answer, believing that the first party–Envision Group -should provide all the materials.
Unsurprised by Caroline’s inability to respond, Abigail pressed on, “What about the total building area of the main center? What is the building coverage rate? What’s the fault tolerance rate?”
Now sweating, Caroline pressed her lips together.
She was aware that Abigail was deliberately making things
difficult for her.
“You don’t know that one either? Fine, let’s try something simpler. What is this project going to build?”
“I… I…” Caroline stuttered, unable to articulate a single word.
Before attending the meeting, she only wanted to steal the project

Disappointed, Michael shook his head, stood up, and adjusted his suit. “You’ve assigned a newcomer to this project. It seems your company lacks sincerity in this partnership.
“In that case, we’re canceling the cooperation!”
