Chapter 7
“Damn it!”
Theo frantically tried calling me but got no response. My whereabouts were completely hidden by Jasper.
It was as if I had disappeared into thin air.
“Sister must have teamed up with your business rivals! What she’s done is really too much!”
Theo said nothing. He just stared at the divorce notice.
I hadn’t asked for a thing, a clean break, no strings attached, with my signature firm and final.
It was completely outside of what Theo had expected.
In his mind, I would never choose divorce.
I had loved him wholeheartedly and had accepted the twins for his sake. How could I just walk away so easily?
“Is Theo home? You have a delivery.”
Theo took the package. Deep down, he sensed it might be from me.
He quietly went upstairs.
He plugged in the USB. The video began to play.
The first clip showed an argument between me and Mira at the office.
From the surveillance angle, it was clear. I hadn’t touched her. She had fallen on her own.
The footage then switched to Mira coaching the twins to use the rose–scented spray on me.
“If you help Mommy, we can kick that bitch out, okay?”
“I’m your real mommy. You have to believe me.”
Theo paused the video.
He gulped down several mouthfuls of ice water, trying to calm himself.
This version of Mira was nothing like the one in his memory. How could this be?
Almost as if the video anticipated his disbelief, it continued playing on its own, showing footage from high school where Mira and her clique dragged me into the restroom.
“I told you, you’re not allowed to eat.”
“If you want to eat, eat from the toilet!”
They shoved a filthy mop into my face.
Then, in college, Mira worked with classmates to steal my graduation project.
Next, the video showed her leading the twins as they electrocuted me at their birthday party.
Theo suddenly stood up.
He couldn’t believe it. He had to confront Mira in person.
As he reached the stairs, he heard her voice from the kitchen. She was on the phone.
“Don’t
worry, Mom. That bitch definitely won’t come back. Right now, Theo only loves me.”

“Thanks to your idea of faking my death and drugging that slut so Theo would think she stole the engagement, now he misses me even more.”
“Men are like that, they love to eat from their plates while eyeing the pot. That’s what keeps them hooked.”
Theo was about to explode.
He had always believed that Mira had left because I forced her out.
But she left on her own? Worse, she framed me for it?
Then, Mira touched her belly and spoke again.
“Mom, next time, find me a few more male models. I lost the baby last time, so I had to blame that slut.”
“Or get the same one from nine years ago, at least he gave me twins.”
“Theo will never know. It’s all just to boost my chances of getting pregnant.”
Theo couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
Nine years ago? The twins?
Were they even his?
He stared at the USB drive and then at the woman in front of him.
Everything was falling apart.
When he saw the hotel records, Mira checking in with different men nine years ago, his rage boiled over.
“Theo, what are you doing?”
She had just pushed open the study door, only to lock eyes with the projector screen.
The image froze on a scene of her, tangled in a stranger’s arms, moaning.
“Ah-!”
