Kendra sat at the edge of the bed in her silk cream robe, her hair tied into a bun, a glass of wine in her hands as her mald, Maris, massaged her legs, her hands trembling slightly as she adjusted the hem of Kendra’s robe.
“Call them,” Kendra ordered.
The maid, Maris, eyes widened, “A–all of them, Mistress?” she asked.
Kendra tilted her head slightly, a smirk on her lips, “Yes, Maris. Every last one of those little rats that bitch shares a room with. Now” Maris scrambled to her feet and rushed out of the room.
Minutes later, Maris returned, leading four young maids into the room. The girls lowered their heads, their hands clasped together tightly, practically trembling. Kendra smirked even wider. She loved seeing the fear in their eyes.
Kendra stood up and walked towards the girls slowly. She stopped in front of the brunette, grabbing her chin to look at her. “Do you know why you’re here?” Kendra asked, and the girl shook her head.
Kendra chuckled softly, circling them like a predator studying its prey. “You’re here because I have a job for you. A very simple task.” She stopped in front of the second girl, tilting the girl’s chin up with one perfectly manicured finger.
“You’re roommates with Avery, right?” She asked. The girl swallowed hard, it wasn’t difficult to figure out who Avery is considering they were only four in the room.
“Yes, ma’am,” the girl replied, and Kendra’s smile widened, “Perfect. You’re going to teach my dear a lesson.”
The girl’s eyebrows furrowed, her lips quivering. “M–ma’am, I–I don’t-”

“Useless,” Kendra muttered under her breath, her eyes scanning the rest of the group. She stepped closer to the girl she’d first addressed, grabbing her collar and tilting her head slightly to reveal a faint mark on her neck.
“Ah, the Silver Moon pack,” Kendra mused, her voice filled with mock curiosity. “Were you part of the gifts given to Alpha Cain?”
“Y–yes, ma’am,” the girl whispered, her voice barely audible.
“W–what’s the job, ma’am? We will do a good job,” the brunette blurted out, earning Kendra’s attention. Kendra grinned at her eagerness. She glanced at Maris, gesturing for her to bring it.
Maris handed her a red velvet pouch which she passed to the girl who caught it swiftly, her eyes widening when she recognized what was in it. “There’s more where that came from. All you have to do is teach her a lesson. She needs to learn her place, don’t you think? A few bruises here and there. I want her completely unrecognizable.” “Yes, ma’am,” the brunette nodded, and soon the rest were in agreement too.
“Good, do it tonight. I want to see that bitch ruined by tomorrow.”
She turned back toward her bed, her silk robe trailing behind her. “And girls?”

Avery stepped into the room, her bones wrecked from how much she had to scrub and clean. She’d been done hours ago, having been used to cleaning back at the pack. She’d been in a hurry to urinate and bathe since she was not only pressed but hadn’t been able to bathe in three days. There was a time limit for the water given to the maid -quarters. Avery had finished up the chores but was stopped by the head maid who then gave her even more chores to do. She wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom until she was done and finally by the time she finished, the time for water had passed.

She wiped her sweat, her gaze flickering to the girls on the other side of clearly clean from bathing. Avery murmured a greeting and walked towards the space given to her. She’d wake up earlier tomorrow morning to bathe.
Just as she reached for a blanket to sleep, it was snatched from her harshly. Avery’s

eyes widened in surprise. She looked up to see the brunette girl towering over her. Avery then reached for the second blanket only to have that snatched from her again. She sighed internally and looked up at the girls who had now gathered around her. Just as she reached for the third blanket, they were all snatched from her.
Avery blinked, confused, her hands hovering over the empty space the blanket should

“Don’t belong to you!” another girl snapped, stepping closer. “Are you plain deaf or can’t you hear us?” The girl sneered at her, leaning down so their eyes would meet.
Avery blinked, her confusion growing worse. “I- I haven’t done- she doesn’t get to complete her words as she’s dragged up by the girl, her fingers digging into Avery’s skin.
“Shut up!” the brunette barked, tossing the blanket aside and closing the distance between them. “Do you think you’re better than us? Is that it, huh?”
“What? No! I’ve never-” she doesn’t get to complete her words as she’s slapped across the cheeks hard. Avery’s eyes widened, her cheeks red with the imprint of the girl.
“What are you doing? Please don’t-
“We are teaching you a lesson, that’s what,” the brunette says and before Avery could speak, she’s pushed backward, making her stumble to the ground. Avery barely had time to process anything before a sharp kick landed on her ribs. She cried out, clutching her side, but another girl grabbed her ankle and yanked her upright, twisting it painfully.
Avery tried to pull her leg free, “Please, I don’t understand-“She’s slapped on the cheeks again, her ears ringing loudly from the slap. The girls start to hit her, mercilessly, stomping on her till she’s had tears leaking out of her eyes.
“What in the world is going on here?” A deep hoarse voice growls from behind, making

the girls stop. They turn to see Xander, the beta’s brother standing by the door, his dark eyes filled with rage, his jaw clenched tightly. He’d been passing by when he heard the noise only for him to check what was going on and see this. His gaze drops. to the girl on the floor, her face filled with bruises, blood dripping out of her nose.
The brunette girl, who had been the most vocal, opened her mouth, “W–we were just… teaching her a lesson, sir.”
“Fucking useless…” Xander muttered under his breath as he walked towards Avery. The girl was clearly out of it and without another word, he scooped Avery into his arms, lifting her effortlessly, she weighed nothing.
He paused to look at the girls, “I will be speaking to Martha. She clearly cannot keep. you under control.” He said before walking out of the room.
