Chapter 7
The next day, I pulled all of Montgomery Industries‘ resources from Blake’s company.
Blake demanded an insane penalty fee, trying to screw me over.
I liquidated everything and paid him every penny.
That night, Lucas made his move.
The Harrison family was hit with a massive PR crisis.
At the same time, investigators discovered serious financial fraud within Blake’s company.
Turns out Hannah had been stealing money.
Her brother had gambling debts in Vegas and lost everything.
Hannah had been using company funds to cover for him.
Blake went ballistic, trashing the maternity ward.
Someone filmed it and posted it online.
The internet went wild.
“Karma! Guy cheats with a mistress, mistress steals all his money.”
“Totally deserved it. Scumbag meets gold digger–perfect match.”
“Gotta dump my stocks before I end up broke like this loser.”
Overnight, half of Blake’s employees quit.
Business partners canceled their contracts.
Stock prices crashed. The company was basically bankrupt.
The next morning, I ran into Blake’s mom at my front door.

She was dressed all fancy, putting on this fake friendly act.
“Charlotte, honey, you’ve always been my favorite daughter–in–law. How about this–I’ll get rid of that little homewrecker for you, and you give Blake another chance?”
I pulled away from her and flashed the huge diamond ring on my finger.
“Sorry, Mrs. Harrison. I found someone better.”
“You and your asshole son can go ruin someone else’s life.”
Blake’s mom turned red with rage.
“Who the hell do you think you are, talking to me like that?”
“The Harrisons have been military for generations! Even if we go bankrupt, we still have our family legacy! My son won’t have any trouble finding a good wife!”
Her little speech gave me an idea.
I went straight to the police and reported Hannah for stealing my Hermès bags.
When the cops searched Blake’s place, I tagged along.
Blake was in his room drinking himself stupid, empty bottles everywhere.
When he saw the police, his face went dark. But when he spotted me, he lit up.

‘Charlotte! You came to see me?”
I stepped back, refusing to let him touch me.

‘Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m here to get my stuff.”
The luxury items I’d left there were worth enough to buy a house.
Sure enough, the police used my receipts and purchase records to discover that more than half my things were missing.
I looked at Blake:
“Those missing items are worth ten million dollars. You paying me back, or should I have the cops

arrest Hannah?”
When Blake heard her name, he smashed the bottle in his hand.
“Don’t mention that bitch! She played me!”
Blake looked at me, his eyes full of regret.
“Charlotte, I was wrong. I was so wrong. Can we get back together?”
“I was an idiot. I was blind. I was a cheating bastard. I know I messed up.”
“I swear I’ll never do it again. I’ll be good to you from now on. Please forgive me?”
I didn’t have time for his sob story. Threw a payment demand in his face.
“Three days. Transfer the money to this account.”
“Or I’m having Hannah arrested.”
Blake’s eyes went red as he screamed after me.
“Charlotte, I really screwed up! Please, for the sake of how much we used to love each other, forgive
me!”
