Chapter 23 An Arranged Marriage
The next day, Rachel was awakened by a call from Sarah. “Darling, oh my god. Something really bizarre happened. Do you know what happened to that jerk yesterday?”
That jerk.
There was no one else Sarah could mean but Zane.
Rachel sat up, asking, “What happened?”
Sarah burst into laughter. “I think it has to be karma, Last night, the sprinkler system at the five–star hotel under the TN Group malfunctioned, flooding the entire hotel. It took a full five hours to save the situation, and right now the estimated loss is already over 300 million. Don’t you think this is karma?”
Upon hearing this, Rachel found the news hard to believe.
She realised it was all true only after checking for the news online.
“This is actually a good thing. It’s all over the headlines on major news platforms now. There are even people speculating that it was done by that jerk’s enemies.”
“It is indeed a good thing. Plus, I’m curious about who his enemies are.” Rachel put down her tablet. She was already out of bed.
“Don’t care about that. As long as he gets his karma, we should feel satisfied. If he can’t figure out who did it, then he’ll just have to take the loss quietly.”
Rachel agreed with her opinion. At the very least, the news gave her a sense of satisfaction.
“Sarah, I’ll call you back later. Someone is calling me.”
After hanging up with Sarah, Rachel glanced at the unfamiliar caller number displayed on her phone. She narrowed her eyes and answered the call.
Ella Freeman’s angry voice rang out from the other side of the call, saying, “Rachel, Dad is already in the hospital now. If you still have a conscience, you’d better come to the hospital
now.”
An hour later, Rachel appeared at the private hospital.
She walked into the ward where Mrs. Freeman was serving breakfast to Henry Freeman. When Ella noticed her arrival, she announced sarcastically, “Dad, she’s here.”
Henry raised his eyebrows and looked displeased. “You two go out first. I have something to

Mrs. Freeman took her daughter with her and left the ward.
He straightened the sheets and asked with a serious tone, “Are you happy to see me in this state now?”
Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly. “Do you want me to smile?”
Her words almost made Henry die from anger. He took a deep breath, recalling his real purpose of asking her to come. “Rachel, no matter what, we still are father and daughter. No matter what I have done in the past, I ultimately did it for your sake. Now, you have nothing. You have been divorced and even worse, your ex–husband is Zane Jenkins. Do you think you can find a better man in Guardia? If you marry well, you can also help the family. When that happens, I will not treat you unfairly. Isn’t this a win–win situation?”
Rachel listened to him talk. She had originally thought that he had some other tricks sleeve.
Clearly, she overestimated him.
“So what?”

Henry calmed himself down and said, “Mr. Hollands still has interest in you. He promised not to care about everything that occurred in the past. As long as you marry him, he will take good care of you in the future. When you marry him, you will even enjoy the life of a rich wife. This is a good thing. I have already made a promise regarding your marriage to him on your behalf, so prepare yourself for it.”
Rachel’s gaze turned cold. Henry was still as selfish as ever.
He didn’t even treat her as his own daughter.
She had long realized this.
“So you are informing me now.”
“Do I have to beg you? Do you think you still have any appealing qualities now? Do you think you can find someone like Zane again? If you had a more capable womb back then, you wouldn’t have been abandoned the way you were seven years ago.” Thinking of what happened seven years ago, Henry still felt like it was a waste.
Although Jeremy Hollands was not as good as Zane Jenkins, he was still somewhat useful.
At this moment, Rachel walked up to his side before saying coldly, “Dad, if you don’t want me to make you so furious you need to go into surgery, you better not let me hear something like that again.”
