He gently said, “Let’s call it a night. We can cat together another day.”

Janice’s face turned pale, but she unexpectedly noticed a trace of lipstick on Zane’s tie. Her hand clenched and her eyes full of malice. However, she still forced a smile and nodded obediently. “Okay.”.
Watching Zane’s figure walking ahead, she gritted her teeth. Why was Rachel still alive?
At the apartment, Rachel took a shower and then sat on the couch. She video–called Nick and Allie who she missed so much. In just a few seconds, two faces appeared on the screen.
“Mommy, I missed you so much.” A round chubby face shook in front of the screen.
“Allie, stop shaking. You’ll make Mommy dizzy seeing us like this.”
A little handsome face appeared. Nick snatched the phone from Allie’s hands and placed it properly on the table.
She gave birth to fraternal twins. Nick resembled Zane, while Allie resembled Rachel. Wherever she went, they would always attract her attention.
“I miss you both too.” Only when facing them, Rachel would show a gentle smile.
Allie pouted. “Mommy, when will you come back? I want you to tell me bedtime stories.”
Nick frowned. “Allie, are you saying my stories aren’t good enough?”
She quickly said, “Nick and Mommy have different ways of telling stories. It’s not the same.”
He huffed.
Seeing them bicker made Rachel couldn’t help but laugh. She gently said, “You two be good, okay? I will come back to be with you once this research project is done, alright?”
They obediently nodded.
After chatting for a while, Rachel ended the video call. Little did she know, Nick and Allie were busy packing their clothes.
While packing up, Allie asked, “Nick, if we go to Mommy’s place, can we find Daddy?”
“Yes.” Then, Nick corrected, “He is not our daddy.”

But Nick said seriously, “Have you forgotten what I told you before? It was that man who abandoned Mommy first. If it weren’t for Mommy, we wouldn’t be here now. So, the reason we are going to Mommy’s place is not to acknowledge Daddy, but to get revenge for Mommy.”
“I understand.”
Nick added, “There are plenty of good men in the world. We’ll find a handsome, rich man who can take care of Mommy. Then we’ll have a Daddy too, right?”
Allie thought about it–being able to choose a Daddy she liked sounded pretty good.
“Hmm, let’s pick a new Daddy for Mommy.”
Meanwhile, the moment Zane got back, he started investigating everything about Rachel over the past seven years, but he found nothing–not a single trace. A person who had left no trace of activity in seven years was completely unreasonable. Unless it was deliberately erased.
He was more curious about how Rachel, who had been issued a critical condition report back then, could have returned from abroad alive and well. As he pondered, he received a phone call.
“Mr. Jenkins, Drew Research Institute called. Selena has agreed to discuss a collaboration with us. The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow.”
Upon hearing this news, Zane’s expression relaxed slightly.
“Alright, let’s set it for tomorrow.” After a pause, he instructed, “Colin, find a way to reinvestigate the hospital that issued Rachel’s critical condition report back then. Use whatever means necessary–I want to know how she was taken away back then.”
