Chapter 21
The most desperate feeling in the world is when someone loves you but you’re too blind to see it, and
when you finally realize and offer your heart, they tell you they no longer love you.
The pain hit Ash so violently that he clutched his chest and coughed up blood.
Everyone was shocked. Rianne instinctively moved to help him but forced herself to stop. Because
she had let go. From now on, whatever happened to Ash, she wouldn’t care anymore.
“Hahahaha!” Ash laughed loudly, blood trickling from his lips. His skin was so pale it seemed devoid of blood. “I truly am the world’s biggest fool!”
Then, still laughing, Ash turned and walked away from the Lockhart mansion.
Sophia was also driven out by the Lockhart servants, but Julian stayed.
“Mr. Lockhart, I fulfilled your only requirement,” Julian said. “I love Rie more than anyone. I would truly give my life for her.”
“But my love wasn’t honorable enough. I loved too selfishly, so I lost.”
“But I never hurt Rie. Whenever she was sad, I was always the first to comfort her. When she was unhappy, I did everything to make her smile. I would have taken a knife for just one of her smiles.”
With that, Julian shed a tear as he continued, his voice breaking: “You may not believe me, but Rie has always been my salvation.”
‘I was born illegitimate. My mother died giving birth to me, and my father took me in but never
loved me or wanted me as his son. He and his wife beat and abused me daily.”
‘Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore and ran away. After wandering homeless for a long time, police
caught me and sent me to the orphanage.”
‘I thought I’d spend my whole life drifting, until that day when Rie came to the orphanage. She was like an angel–so beautiful, so pure. When she walked up to me, I even wondered if I was dreaming…”
“Then Rie took my hand and said, ‘Brother, let’s go home together‘… That’s when I found my
salvation.”

Chapter 21
Julian was a master of lies, so he could instantly tell who was being truthful and who was lying.
Sophia had tried to deceive him with sweet words, but he hadn’t fallen for it–he’d turned the tables
on her instead.
But the moment Rianne approached him, he knew she wouldn’t lie to him.
Unlike them–the rough–and–tumble kids who grew up fighting in the gutter–Rianne was too pure, too good.
How could he not love her? Just one “brother” from her lips, and he’d give his life…
“Mr. Lockhart, I don’t want to leave. Even if Rie doesn’t choose me in the end, I still want to protect
her forever, to be her eternal second–in–command.”
“So please, let me stay. I can help manage the Lockhart Group, always as the deputy, safeguarding Rie’s empire.”
Julian’s words ultimately moved Mr. Lockhart, who agreed to keep him as an adopted son and let
him remain with the Lockharts.
After all, only Julian had truly loved Rianne.
“But isn’t it too easy to just let Sophia go like this?” someone asked.
Rianne laughed coldly: “Don’t worry. We don’t need to deal with her–plenty of others will!”
After all, Ash and the other five suitors weren’t pushovers.
Sophia had deceived them so cruelly–they wouldn’t let her off easily!
So Rianne didn’t need to dirty her hands. She only needed to watch from the sidelines.
