His tall figure looked somewhat desolate from behind as he walked away.
“When you’re back from your trip, make sure to tell me. Don’t let me be the last to find out.”
Judy quickly agreed over the phone, “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely let you know.”
Joseph then ended the call, reminding her to take care of herself.
Because he trusted her, he didn’t say much more.
Besides, he knew Judy had been through a lot lately.
He felt guilty about it, so he didn’t press her further.
He figured he’d ask her again once she returned–there was still time.

Deep down, he really did feel sorry for her.
All his efforts were just so his father would accept her sooner.
Joseph eventually drove home, choosing to believe what Judy told him.
Meanwhile, the moment Judy hung up, she turned to Kenneth and burst into tears.
“That scared me to death. What if he’d found out? What would we have done?”
Kenneth lifted his hand to wrap around Judy’s waist, gently patting her to calm her down.
“It’s okay. You don’t need to be scared. I saw all of this coming.”
He looked composed and in control, showing no sign of being intimidated by Joseph.
Judy began to feel a little more at ease, but she was still uneasy.
“Do you think Joseph’s already starting to suspect something?”
Kenneth shook his head. “I don’t think so. We’ve both been pretty careful about everything.”
Judy nodded in agreement. “That’s true, but… you don’t really know Joseph.”
“You do?”
Kenneth looked at her, puzzled, a teasing glint in his eyes.
“He usually doesn’t speak to me like that. But today’s call… it was definitely strange.”
Judy stepped out of Kenneth’s arms, putting some distance between them.
