Chapter 910
If she acted rashly, what would she do if things turned against her later?
She’d been through situations like this far too many times.
It had made her cautious, even afraid.
And those feelings were something a young officer like the intern could never understand.
That was exactly why Tessa didn’t see the point in explaining anying to him.
As long as she could draw out some information, that was enough
Zack’s mood had lifted the moment he learned he’d be heading back.
But hearing Tessa stall and push back with more questions was already wearing on his nerves.
He snapped impatiently, “Why all the talking? Just do what you’re told.
“And don’t forget–you’re still a suspect. You should be cooperating, not stalling.”
Tessa stared at him, caught off guard by his sudden harshness.
She stayed frozen on the bed, looking up at him in a daze.
Something felt off.
This wasn’t the way he’d treated her before.
ww
He hadn’t been overly kind, but he’d at least responded to her needs.
Even in front of Hector, he’d spoken up for her.
Back then, he’d seemed to stand on her side.
But now, it was like he had changed overnight.
“What are you still lying there for?”
Zack had lost all patience. He barked, “You waiting for me to pack your things for you?
“Do you think I’m really going to touch your clothes? Aren’t you embarrassed even asking that much of me?”
Tessa flushed with humiliation.
When had she ever been treated like this before?
Back home, Grace had always doted on her.
Even at the company, those old geezers might have picked at her, but at least they never barked orders at her like this.
And now, it was just a low–level cop.
An intern, no less.
Where did he get the nerve?
Tessa took a deep breath, just about to speak–when she saw the intern gripping his baton beside him.
With just one glance, she deflated like a balloon.
Forget it. There was no point in arguing with someone who relied on brute strength.
She’d deal with this brainless idiot later, no need to waste energy now.
Chapter 910
Tessa stood up. “I’ll handle it myself. Wouldn’t dream of troubling you to pack for me.”
Zack seized the upper hand again. “Now that’s more like it. If that the case, then hurry up and don’t waste my time”
“Of course, of course.”
Tessa nodded smoothly, making no attempt to defy him.
Soon, the two of them were on their way back to the station.
Even though she was anxious, Tessa told herself it was better not to stir up trouble.
Since she had to go, she might as well face it calmly.
No matter what came next, she believed that staying composed would help her find a way through.
Besides, she was genuinely curious–what had Julian turned into by now?
Was he really broken, or was he faking it all along?
With that thought, a flash of coldness passed through her eyes.

Of course, she hoped Julian would never come back to his senses.
Now that he was ruined, there was no point in recovery.
She’d just need to find another pawn to take the fall.
It wasn’t hard to find a useful tool.
With that in mind, Tessa’s smile grew more pronounced.
Zack caught her reflection in the rearview mirror and felt a chill creep up his spine.
