Chapter 872
What nonsense about past feelings.
Relying on others was useless.
They were already engaged, and he still dared to treat her like that?
If they actually got married in the future, what would that even look like?
A cold glint flashed through Tessa’s eyes.
It didn’t matter. She wasn’t going to go through with the engagement to Julian.
Once she returned to her country, the bet would be off.
She would speak to her mother about it.
What did she even need Julian for?
He was just a dumb man.
Tessa’s mind worked quickly, already thinking about how to shake Julian off.
She wanted no more entanglements with that man.
There was absolutely no need.
Besides, men were nothing but obstacles in a woman’s path to making money.
All Julian ever did was slow her down.
Apart from being a hindrance to her success, he really didn’t have anything to offer.
If it weren’t for saving face and needing the Hayes family’s support, she would’ve ended things long ago.
But now that Aurora had woken up, there was no point in fighting for that anymore.
Because no matter what, that position would never belong to her.
Not to mention, Grace and those old geezers on the board would never agree.
Tessa knew exactly what kind of people they were, especially over the past month while Aurora had been unconscious, she’d seen firsthand just how stubborn they were.
But still, none of it seemed to sway them.
No matter what she did in front of those old men, they only remembered one thing- those contracts had all been signed by
Aurora.
So, they never showed her much respect.
At first, Tessa didn’t care about any of that.
If only Aurora had stayed unconscious forever–then she wouldn’t have to be in such a rush.
But clearly, that was impossible.
After everything she had done, those old men at the company still pretended not to see a thing.
That much was finally clear to Tessa, so she stopped putting so much effort into her work.
Whether she worked hard or not, those old men would always find some excuse to criticize her.

Over time, their constant nitpicking had worn down her enthusiast.
So, she no longer wanted to suppress her emotions.
She had already changed too much.
But this latest incident really was serious.
If it wasn’t handled properly, nothing else could move forward.
Tessa called for a doctor.
The intern police officer was still stationed nearby.
He looked at her struggling state, and there was a flicker of concern in his eyes.
“Miss Walton, if there’s anything you need, just tell me directly.”
The intern beat Tessa to it and pressed the nurse call button.
Tessa noticed how flustered he looked and understood immediately.
So, this kid had feelings for her.
Otherwise, why would he still be hanging around after all these days?
But if she asked him why he was here, he’d definitely say it was all for the sake of the investigation, just doing his part for the police department.
At that thought, Tessa’s heart tightened.
Was the case about to be solved already?
And she had gotten nothing out of it.
Tessa could only thank the intern softly.
Compared to before, her voice was already much improved.
