smile.
Eric clenched his jaw, doing his best to maintain his usual aloof persona despite the fire simmering in his chest.
“It’d better be as you say.”
Alice’s grin widened. “I can promise you this–once you’ve tried it, you’ll be begging for a second time.”
A volcano of rage began bubbling under Eric’s calm surface, threatening to erupt at any moment.
Alice took the wheel, and since it wasn’t rush hour, she sped up and arrived quickly at a spa center.
As they stepped out of the car, Eric caught sight of the spa’s signage, and his expression turned thunderous.
Is this one of those so–called wellness spas that’s secretly running shady stuff behind the scenes?
Perfect.
Tonight, I will gladly play the role of a concerned citizen and expose this place for what it truly is.
Right on cue, someone was exiting the spa.
A cheerful staff member walked them out and asked politely, “How was your experience today?”
The customer laughed. “Excellent. I’ll definitely be back.”
“Thank you so much for the feedback,” the staff member replied with a warm smile.
As she turned back, she spotted Alice and Eric approaching. She quickly made her way over.
“Good evening, how many are we checking in today?”
Alice pulled out a sleek black VIP card. “Two, please.”
Eric was already struggling to contain his rage. “You’re seriously going in?”
Alice blinked at him, looking genuinely shocked.
“What? Were you planning to enjoy yourself while I just sat around waiting?
“We’re supposed to be partners, right? Shouldn’t we share the good stuff too?”
The staff member was even more surprised.
“You’re one of our Black Card members! You’re entitled to tonight’s exclusive package!”

Alice, seeing Eric frozen in place, thought he was just reluctant.

Without answering, Eric lifted his feet and strode inside.
Like hell he was going to let her think he was some clueless rookie.
Alice followed behind quickly.
Inside, she began chatting with the staff with practiced ease, signing up for her package like it was second
nature.
Eric nearly ground his teeth to dust.
Soon enough, the paperwork was done. The staff member approached Eric again with a professional smile.
“Sir, please come with me.”
Eric didn’t budge. He looked at Alice.
“What about you?”
Alice waved a small number tag. “Obviously, I’m going to enjoy mine.”
Eric nearly exploded.

He turned and followed the staff into the elevator.
Tonight, I’m going to shut this disgusting place down. That was the only thought in his mind.
Alice was about to go upstairs too when her phone suddenly rang–it was Risa.
“What’s up?”
Risa had been trying to schedule dinner with her before leaving the country, but Alice had kept putting it off.
If Risa found out she was relaxing at a spa instead, she’d definitely flip.

The article was short but full of insinuations.

Risa was laughing so hard on the other end that she almost choked.
“Darling, maybe you should just divorce him and come be with me instead. I promise I’ll treat you right.”

Risa immediately started coughing violently.
Her entourage of pretty young boys swarmed around her, handing her tissues and water.
Hearing the chaotic sounds on the other end, Alice couldn’t help but sigh and roll her eyes again.
This was the difference.
They’d started on the same line, yet somehow Risa had the luxury of surrounding herself with eye candy while Alice could only pick a therapist.
She turned back to the front desk and said flatly, “I’ll take three of them.”
Risa practically choked on her laughter.
