The paperwork on Matt and Josh’s trial was already in motion.

Upon hearing the news, Irene had practically bolted upright in her sickbed.

She reached out and took Sandy’s hand.

“So, Grandmother, how do we handle this?

By the time Eric finished his call with the police and returned, he found her already fast asleep. 

She must’ve been in an especially good mood, because her sleeping posture was completely unrestrained. 

The blanket had been kicked right onto the floor. 

Eric sighed in resignation. 

He bent over and picked the blanket up, covering her gently. 

But it seemed like she might have dreamed something unsettling, because she suddenly grabbed his hand. 

“You said you’d come back.”
