She saw Aurora as her best friend, and having a best friend that outstanding was something to be proud of.
Why should she feel upset about it?
That was what everyone always said–Megan had a big heart.
If it were someone else, they probably would’ve been angry with Aurora or even cut ties long ago.
But Megan wasn’t like that.
She actually wanted to spend more time with Aurora.
Wherever she went, she’d lift her chin proudly and say, “Look, this is my best friend. She’s always top of the class!”
Watching her beam with pride, some people would say she acted like a fool.
After all, next to someone as exceptional as Aurora, Megan looked almost silly by comparison.
She was always cheerful, but seemingly never achieving much.
And the contrast only made it more obvious.
It made her seem like she had nothing going for her.
Even so, Megan didn’t care one bit.
Even if Aurora was often held up as a standard to compare others to–so what?
No matter what anyone said, Aurora was her best friend.
Whether Aurora succeeded or not was nobody else’s business.
It had nothing to do with them.
That was why Megan never took those remarks to heart.
In fact, they didn’t affect her at all.
Life was meant to be lived for oneself–what did those people matter?
Besides, gossip like that was everywhere, and it was honestly laughable.
If she let a few spiteful comments shake her so easily, then what was the point of living?
It would be a joke.
This life was hers, and there was no need to perform for others.
Other people had nothing to do with her.
If someone cared too much about what others said, the one who ended up getting hurt would always be themselves.
And in this, Megan had truly seen things clearly.
But the truth was, Megan had plenty of wonderful qualities too.
It was just that those people never bothered to look closely enough to see them.
Aurora, however, knew every one of those shining points by heart
But since Megan didn’t care about those things anymore, there was no need for Aurora to dwell on them either.
These were things that belonged to the two of them, and if she was the only one clinging to them, it served no purpose.

Besides, what mattered more was the time they spent together.
The time wasted on overthinking could be better spent sharing a dozen meals together.
That thought made Aurora chuckle to herself.
A soft smile bloomed in her eyes, and the warmth slowly returned her pale face.
Seeing the rare, serious look on Aurora’s face made Megan a little lustered.
“Okay… okay, why are you suddenly being so serious?”
She awkwardly pushed Aurora away, even stuttering a little. “A–And aren’t we best friends?

In the end, Megan puffed up adorably, making a mock threat.
Aurora couldn’t help but laugh and shook her head. “Alright, alright, it’s my fault. We’re best friends for life. How could something this small ever come between us?”
Megan’s smile grew even brighter.
“Good! Then I’m keeping watch now. You need to eat properly, and we’ll listen to the doctor and stay a few more days for
observation.”
She bustled around enthusiastically, preparing more fruit and already planning to go buy some nutritious meals.
