“Enya, why don’t you show me around. Christian says you’ve been making sure our rooms were ready for days. I hope you haven’t gone to too much trouble. We’re very easy,” my mother says, expertly leading Enya into the packhouse and leaving me with my father.
“So, how’s it really going?” he asks me.
I blow out a breath and turn to lean against the car. I tell him about my frustration with not hearing back from the council and about worrying that there’s at least a small group of people in the pack that might have had something to do with Alpha Colin’s death.
“And what about Enya? How’s that going?” he asks.
Because he’s my father and I know I can trust him with anything, I tell him about the kiss, about my honesty with Enya and how she’s continuing to push my control and patience.
“Do you still want to send her to the Academy?” he asks.
“Watch her this weekend while you’re here. You tell me if you think she doesn’t need the Academy. If you disagree with me, I’ll stop pushing. But I think she needs it. I think it would help her tremendously.”
“I’ll talk to your mother too, make sure she watches her so we can get her insights as well,” my father says.
“I’m pretty sure mom’s already on it,” I say smiling.
My father chuckles as he opens the back of the car and we begin
pulling bags out.
“I’m sure you’re right, especially since it impacts one of her pups. You can guarantee that your mother will have an opinion of Enya before the night is over.”
“I’m sure she will,” I say, knowing my mother nearly as well as my father does.
“What does Enya want from you?” he asks as we load ourselves with a bunch of bags.
“Are all these Sebastiana’s?” I grumble, pulling another bag over my
shoulder.
“No. These two belong to your mother and I,” he says grinning. I shake my head.
“I don’t know what Enya wants, other than to test my patience,” I tell
him.
“Is she testing your patience or spreading her wings with someone she feels safe with?” he asks.
“I really don’t know dad and honestly, I don’t think she knows either.”
“She probably doesn’t. How do you and your wolf feel about it?” he asks as we walk the luggage into the packhouse.
I look around, making sure we’re alone before answering.
“Both of us are in agreement. We want her. Every time she touches me, it’s like fire ignites under my skin. Every time she looks at me, it’s like she’s etching herself onto my soul. I love it. I want more of it. I want her…” I say.

“Well then, let’s see if she wants you too.”
Enya
“So, tell me about yourself,” Alpha Christina says as we walk into the packhouse.
I shrug. “There isn’t much to tell.”
She looks at me, surprised. “You’re an Alpha female. You don’t have anything about yourself that you want to tell me?”
“I guess I’ve lived a sheltered life,” I say, feeling a bit like I’m not measuring up in Christian’s mother’s eyes.
She chuckles. “Well, don’t ask Sebastiana to tell you about yourself. You’ll never get her to shut up,” she says.
“She seems nice,” I say.
“Oh, she’s got a big, beautiful heart. But it’s hidden behind a lot of sarcasm and confidence that borders on arrogance,” she says.
I chuckle as I watch her drag my brother out the back of the packhouse.
