Ziana’s POV
I sit in the office, staring at doctor Anna. She hasn’t said much other than the pleasantries.
“So. You missed our session yesterday.” She says, breaking the silerice. I nod, studying her.
“Yup.” I answer and she smiles.

told it’s because you were giving Marissa some time off. That was nice of you.” She continues and I
nod again.
“It’s nothing. Everyone deserves time off. If I can help, I will.” I answer.
“Not many people think that way. We are lucky to have you as a luna.” She says, making me flinch.
“Oh no. No, that’s not why I do it.” I say and she shrugs.
“Your reason may be entirely selfish, I won’t know unless you tell me. But even if it is, you are giving back and helping a pack that you don’t know. People have noticed and they are impressed.” She explains and I shake my head.
“I don’t do it to impress people.” I say and she shakes her head.
“Why do you do it then?” She asks and I clamp my mouth shut before saying anything I regret. I’ve already said too much.
She keeps asking questions, but I don’t answer in fear that she will somehow figure out more.
“I also heard that you went to the other orphanage. I am glad that you went to visit them. They deserve the attention too. Even if they are a little more rambunctious.” She says, taking my thoughts to last night. They didn’t seem like bad kids.
“What do you know of the head..” I begin to ask, but am cut off as my vision turns black and I am thrown into a cell.
I look around to see two distinct eyes, one brown and one dark yellow. His eyes are fearful and filled with pain. He is tied down with vines and is pulling against them.
“You pathetic boy. First you let those women in here then you want to play the martyr and take their punishment. Haven’t you learned not to do that by now?” The shrill voice cackles. Then brings down a whip on the boy. She begins to beat him for what seems like forever, until his blood covers the cell and he is hardly breathing.
I am pulled from the vision to meet the brown eyes of Anna.
“Luna, are you okay?” She asks in concern. I hurriedly stood.
“I. I have to go.” I say in a rush and I run out of the door.
I don’t stop running until I get to the gates of the orphanage The quard is a different one from yesterday, but he stands there blocking my way.

“Open the gate now.” I say darkly. He flinches at my tone but doesn’t move.
“Mistress Beryl does not wish to be disturbed. The children are studying.” He answers and the growl that

bursts from my lips surprises both him and me. I push my surprise back at the sound that I have never
emitted before.
“I am your Luna and you will open the gate for me. NOW!” I demand, putting my dark aura into it and possible Luna aura? Another thing to file away to examine later. He rushes to open the gate and I push through as soon as there is enough room.
I run up the stairs and push through the unlocked door, looking around frantically. I tune in and listen, but only hear slight mumbling from children, one is whimpering, there are also sounds in the kitchen and I make my way towards them.
I walk into the kitchen, breathing ragged, when one of the older girls stumbles and stares wide eyed at me.
“Where are they?” I ask and she shakes her head. “Mikey. Where is he?” I ask and she begins to tear up, shaking even harder.
“Shelly, right?” I ask and she just barely nods. “Shelly, if you don’t tell me where they are, she will kill him. Please. Tell me where they are.” I beg and she flinches and points to the pantry.
“Th. There. Is a. A cellar door. Un. Uh. Under the mat.” She stutters.
“Get everyone out.” I order her as I rush into the pantry, pulling up the mat and opening what looks like a trap
door. It slams open to reveal a dark staircase.I run down and hear the sound of whip slamming on flesh.!

There are two cells down here, lights flickering in each. I reach the last cell and see the blood splattered all
over.
I can’t push away the darkness that consumes me as my rage takes over, and black out.
Killian’s POV
Zane and I make our way to the pack house and to my office in silence. Once we reach the inside, Zane
closes the door and plops down on one of the large chairs.
“What do we do? She obviously doesn’t seem too keen on giving us a chance.” He asks and I shrug my
shoulders.
“I just want to know why. I understand that she didn’t want a mate, quite a few people don’t. But most people change their minds once they meet their mate. Especially since we both marked her.” I think out loud. He
stands up and brushes off his pants.
“I’m going to get her flowers.” He says and I nod as he leaves. I need to figure something out. Maybe I can ask
Addie what she likes, like Zane did.
“A. Alpha.” Comes through mindlink, surprising me.
“Yes?” I ask.
“Luna broke through the orphanage. The kids are running outside, most are crying.” The guard says. I turn to
Alpha mode as I mindlink Zane and Kai.
“I need you at the old orphanage. Something is going on.” I answer and transport to the inside of the gates. The children are shaking and crying as I make my way to the older one carrying one of the younger ones through the door. She freezes as she stares at me with wide eyes.

“What is going on?” I ask her.
“Lu. Luna went to help. Sh. She told me t. To get everyone o. Out.” She explains. I run past her into the house and immediately smell the cranberry orange scent. I follow it to the pantry and am surprised to see a door open in the ground.
Screams erupt and I rush down the stairs, almost hitting my head on the door. The smell of blood hits me so strongly I almost stagger. I freeze at the sight in front of me. Ziana has a whip and is striking the mistress with it as electricity sparks down and to her body. There is a boy laying on the floor bloody and unconscious. There is a sharp inhale behind me, pulling me from the scene. The air around us is filled with electricity and a thickening darkness, curling around Ziana.
I make my way to Ziana and grab her hand as it pulls the whip back to strike again. Sparks shock and scatter throughout me. I grit my teeth as the electricity flows through me.
“Ziana. Baby, that’s enough.” I try to speak calmly to her. She stops sending electricity through me and turns. Blood coats her face and I inhale as I take in her eyes. They are glowing purple, but that isn’t what surprises me most. The whites of her eyes are black, while the iris’s are glowing purple.
“Come back to me, baby.” I say lowly as Kai makes his way to the boy laying on the ground. He picks him up and transports out of the cell.
“Take her to the hospital.” I tell Addie as she goes to the mistress lying unconscious on the ground. She nods and looks at Ziana worriedly.
“She needs contact to fully calm down. I. I don’t know if your scent will help or make it worse.” She explains, causing hurt to spread through my chest.
