Chapter 1
Rianne Lockhart was the sole heiress to one of America’s most powerful business dynasties. When
she was a kid, her dad adopted seven boys so she could pick a fiancé from them later.
These men catered to her every whim–all except for Ash Sterling, who remained cold as ice and
never gave her so much as a kind word.
This only made Rianne more obsessed with him, turning her into his most devoted admirer.
Until one day, she caught Ash pressing Sophia against a wall, kissing her passionately. And Sophia was supposedly his “sister.”
“Dad, I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to marry Drake Quinn from Manhattan!” Rianne announced
with firm resolve as she entered her father’s study.
“Drake Quinn? You mean that boy who’s been crying about wanting to marry you since you were
both three?” her father asked, puzzled. “Sure, the Quinn empire is worth billions, and Drake has
made quite a name for himself, but I thought you were in love with Ash?”
“And besides,” her father continued, “apart from Ash, haven’t I given you six other men to choose
from? They all worship the ground you walk on. Wouldn’t marrying one of them be better than
marrying into another family where you might be mistreated?”
At his words, Rianne gave a bitter smile.
Just a day ago, she too believed that apart from Ash, her other six suitors adored her completely. She thought they would willingly cut out their hearts for her if she asked.
But last night, Rianne accidentally discovered the men’s secret.
“I wonder when that idiot Rianne will finally realize Sophia isn’t actually Ash’s blood sister?”
The speaker was Julian Hayes, one of Rianne’s suitors, who had once jumped off a building for her.
But now, he swirled whiskey in his glass and sneered: “That dumb Rianne probably thinks I’m head
over heels for her. Truth is, I didn’t jump off that building to prove my love–I did it to scare her
away.”

“Same here. I’ve been sucking up to Rianne even though it makes me sick, because I know she hates guys who worship her,” another added.
“Hahahaha, we’ve all had the same strategy! Act like whatever Rianne hates, so she won’t choose us,
Then we can all have a fair shot at pursuing Sophia.”
“Only Ash didn’t play along, and of course that masochist Rianne fell for him. Feel bad for our boy
Ash for a second.”
“What can we do? Someone’s gotta marry Rianne eventually. How else would Sophia get to be the Lockhart princess?”
Rianne silently clenched her fists, her entire body trembling with rage.
These seven men were all orphans, taken in by her father. Her mother had died when Rianne was
young, and her father, still deeply in love with his late wife, didn’t want to remarry.
But he also worried about entrusting the massive Lockhart empire to his daughter alone. So he adopted seven gifted young men from an orphanage to be potential husbands for Rianne.
Ash was the most brilliant of them all–highest IQ, most handsome, and her father’s clear favorite.
But when finalizing the adoption, Ash had said: “I have a sister named Sophia Sterling, I won’t leave
her. If you want to adopt me, you must take her too.”
Rianne thought at the time: a man who treats his sister so well would surely make a wonderful
husband.
So she begged her father to adopt Sophia as well. And that’s how Sophia became the Lockharts‘ adopted daughter–growing up, everything Rianne had, Sophia had too.
All seven men doted on Sophia, especially Ash, who practically worshipped her.
Sometimes Rianne felt jealous, but the men always criticized her for it.
‘Princess, don’t be so petty. Jealous of your own sister?”
“We were all in the same orphanage with Sophia. She’s like a sister to all of us.”
“Princess, you and Sophia are different. You have everything, but Sophia only has us brothers.”
Eventually, Rianne started to wonder if she really was being too small–minded?

But now, listening to her suitors‘ mockery, Rianne finally saw the truth. It wasn’t that she was petty, but these scumbags were just excellent actors.
As her anger boiled, she heard a soft, feminine moan coming from the nearby garden.
Following the sound, Rianne witnessed a scene that shattered her world–the always cold and aloof
Ash had Sophia pressed against a wall, kissing her passionately. His hand was even sliding under
her skirt…
“Brother, please don’t marry Rianne,” Sophia pleaded tearfully, stopping him. “If you marry her, I won’t let you touch me anymore.”
“I don’t want to marry her either,” Ash said coldly. “But Mr. Lockhart has been good to us.”
“Be good, Sophia. Even if I marry her, I’ll only give Rianne the marriage certificate, not a shred of
love.”
