“Sir, there’s something else I need to tell you.”
Lucas was sitting on the bed with Autora in his arms.
When he heard Jason speak, he lazily lifted his eyelids.
In a rare good mood, he replied with a single word, “Speak
“The test results on that compound came back.”
Aurora turned her head, curious.
She really wanted to know what was in that vial and why Julian had gone to such lengths to inject it into himself.
Could it have been the very thing that caused her to lose consciousness?
Just thinking about that possibility sent a chill down her spine.
After all, it was terrifying to think that something so serious could’ve happened to her when she hadn’t done anything at all.
Why would someone go to such extremes?
What had she done to deserve this kind of hatred?
She couldn’t understand what kind of deep grudge these two people were holding against her.
Jason glanced at the two of them, then paused to find the right words before finally speaking.
“The results show the substance is a controlled drug.”
Lucas‘ eyes lifted sharply. “What is it used for?”
There was a quiet edge to his voice, but the anger simmering beneath was unmistakable.
Just the thought that the compound had nearly been injected into Aurora made his chest tighten.
Clearly, that first kick he gave Julian wasn’t nearly hard enough.
And now, these people had dared to bring a controlled drug near Aurora?
He had clearly been too soft.
If he hadn’t shown them kindness before, none of this would’ve happened.
With Aurora by his side, Lucas had only ever wanted to cherish her–never in a million years would he have let anyone lay a hand on her.
The fact that he had allowed such people to get this close was on him.
Jason could see exactly what Lucas was thinking just from the look on his face.
But honestly, this was a banned substance they were dealing with.
The other party had already crossed the line.
Even if Lucas went a little overboard, who could blame him?
It was self–defense, plain and simple.
Compared to what Julian had done, Lucas was far too restrained.
So, Jason didn’t hold anything back and laid it all out clearly

“This compound is colorless, odorless, and once injected, even medical equipment can’t detect it. Only the person who receives it knows what’s really happening in their body. That’s why we couldn’t identify it earlier.”
“And then?”
Aurora couldn’t help but ask.
She hadn’t realized so much had happened to her while she was unconscious.
It seemed Julian really had been eager to keep her asleep forever.
Maybe she’d been too kind to people like him.
Otherwise, why would they dare lay a hand on her like this?
Had she really been that merciful?
The thought alone was almost laughable.
“And then, here we are.”
Jason let out a sigh before continuing, “Once this drug enters the system, it induces a deep sleep. A single dose can last about a week, maybe ten days.
“Unless the body naturally wakes up on its own, or the injections are stopped altogether, the person will remain trapped in that state, struggling in a dream for the rest of their life.”
