Byron had lived through too many traps and betrayals to ever trust something of unknown origin Without even a glance, he handed the USB drive to Les and said coldly, “Get rid of it.” 

Les nodded. “Alright, Mr. Reese.” 

Linda’s expression shifted slightly as she saw he was about to destroy it. 

“What if it’s something important?” she blurted out, unable to stop herself. 

Byron frowned. 

His opinion of Linda had long been shaped by her past behavior–someone willing to do anything for personal gain. 

For her to speak up now, with no regard for her status, only confirmed his suspicions that she might be scheming again. 

His voice turned colder. “I said, get rid of it.” 

Les sprang into action; he left immediately. 

But Linda, after a brief pause, caught up with him. 

“Les!” she called out, stepping in front of him, her tone sharp. “What if that USB holds something critical” 

Les hesitated. “But Mr. R–my dad doesn’t want to see it 

Linda shot back, “That’s because Mrs. Reese is nearby. He’s trying to protect her from getting hurt. But what about you? Don’t you want to know?” 

She leaned in, voice lowering just enough. “If it’s really nothing, we can toss it. But what if it’s not?” 

Linda left the sentence hanging. The suggestion was planted, like a whisper tempting rebellion. 

Les clenched his jaw. 

“You’re right. If it’s classified or sensitive, destroying it might actually harm my dad.” 

Linda gestured to the small computer room nearby. “Let’s check it over there.” 

Earlier, she had already tampered with that room’s system. The moment someone opened the USB file, its contents would automatically be broadcasted on the main screen in the grand hall. 

Everyone would see everything 

Even if Byron got angry afterward, he’d blame his son for being careless. Linda would walk away clean 

Maybe she could even console Les when he was scolded–build a little emotional bridge. 

Bond with him and strengthen their feelings.

Les led the way into the room. It was oddly empty. Despite having several computers, there were no staff around. 

But he didn’t think much of it. He sat down and plugged in the USB 

A few clicks later, the file opened. 

In the grand hall, Byron’s earlier appearance had pulled attention away from the whole Venom drama. 

Guests now waited eagerly for the after–party to begin after the award ceremony concluded. 

The guest of honor presenting the awards was none other than Byron himself. 

Everyone in the room knew what that meant. 

A man of his status presenting the award was something the Spencers ought to be grateful for. 

Byron stepped onto the stage, trophy in hand, and stopped in front of Venom. 

“You’ve got talent, kid. The future’s bright for you. Keep pushing forward.” 

Venom nodded respectfully and took the trophy. 

“But I’d also like to make a request–as the champion.” 

Byron raised an eyebrow. “Oh?” 

“T’d like to challenge my sister. One match.” 

Byron was helpless, “I don’t even know who your sister is. And she may not be here.” 

“She’s definitely here,” Venom said with full confidence. 

Byron stared at him, speechless for a beat. 

Why was this kid so insistent? 

Just as he opened his mouth to ask who the sister was, a sudden commotion rippled through the crowd. 

“Look! The big screen!” 

The noise was loud enough to drown out Byron’s voice. 

He frowned and followed the direction of the pointing fingers, turning toward the massive screen at the side of the hall. 

The footage started playing. First came Byron himself, clear as day. 

Then, it cut to Alice, standing/mext to a car. 

The video continued as Byron approached her. They exchanged words–inaudible on the n–but thei 

he handed her something that looked like an invitation. They chatted casually.

In isolation, there was nothing particularly inappropriate, 

But the angle of the shot, it hold a different story 

Onscreen, it looked like they were intimate. 

It felt like they’d known each other for years. The kind of closeness that seemed inappropriate. 

“Wait–isn’t that Mrs. Nolan!” 

Ever since Alice had become an internet sensation, getting recognized was nothing new for her. 

“Is she having an affair with Mr. Reese?” 

“Wasn’t she from the countryside before she made a name for herself in racing?” 

“How does a girl from nowhere afford to race high–end cars? She had to have had a backer” 

“You don’t think… Mrs. Nolan is Mr. Reese’s mistress or something?” 

“Oh no! That means Mr. Eric’s been completely played!” 

“This chess tournament was worth every second. The drama is unreal” 

“Isn’t Mr. Eric still in the lounge? He must be fuming right now.” 

In the lounge, Daniel couldn’t even bring himself to look at the screen. 

His hand hovered over the remote, tempted to shut the whole thing down before it got worse. 

The air in the room was heavy–oppressive. It felt like it could explode at any moment. 

His heart thumped erratically. 

He didn’t dare to speak. 

Eric might seem calm on the surface, but he had a fiercely possessive nature. 

Even if he didn’t love Alice that deeply, the idea that she had a past before meeting him would disgust him. 

And when that happened, Daniel feared he might do something drastic.
