I chuckle. “I’m guessing she’s there?”
“She is, but that doesn’t change the truth of my words.”
I remain quiet as I hear my mother talking in the background.
“Brilliant as always, my love. Christian, your mother has a great idea. She suggests that we come visit you this weekend. That way, if you need help with any pack members, we can help with that, and I can objectively see you and Alpha Enya together and give you my thoughts.”
“Dad, I would love that! Plus, I think Sebastiana and Shane are around the same age, so they’ll both be going to the Academy at the same time. It would be great for them to meet each other now and hopefully become friends. Neither he nor Enya have the confidence that Sebi has,” I say, making my father snort.
“Who does?” he asks, making me chuckle.
“No one. But maybe seeing Sebi will help Enya see that going to the Academy will be good for her.

“You want her to go to the Academy?” my father asks, obviously surprised.
“Well, yeah. She should go. She shouldn’t feel like her only option in life is to be a Luna,” I say.
“And you’d be okay if she’s your mate and you sent her to the Academy?” he asks, obviously referencing the sex class.
“Did you really just ask that in front of Mom?” I ask. “And besides, I won’t know until after she’s back if she’s my mate. What kind of a guardian would I be if I deny her that opportunity just because she might be my mate?” I ask.

“A good point that your mother is sure to remind me of tonight,” he says, and I can hear in the tone of his voice that she will definitely be doing that.
There’s a knock at my door and I walk over, opening it to a very grief- stricken Enya.
“Dad, I have to go.”
“Me too. We’ll see you this weekend?” he asks.
“See you then,” I say, ending the call without taking my eyes off Enya.
I open my arms, and she collapses into me. I scoop her up, closing the door and carrying her to the love seat in my room. I sit down, holding her tightly as her tears begin to soak my chest.
