Chapter 763
Grace raised an eyebrow, feeling that the man leading the new team looked a little familiar.
Where had she seen him before?
No one said a word, and no one tried to stop the group.
They simply let them begin their work.
The principal wiped the sweat from his forehead, confused about which side this team belonged to.
It really hadn’t been an easy day for him–first the pressure from the government, then this woman in front of him.
And now, another silent rescue team had shown up.
It seemed someone from a wealthy family was buried under there.
With how trained and professional this crew looked, there was no doubt their background wasn’t ordinary.
They clearly had strong support behind them.
Beads of sweat the size of peas rolled down the principal’s forehead.
He was at a complete loss.
It was obvious no that once these people were rescued, his career as principal would be over.
The arrogance on his face had completely disappeared.
He had no idea how to move forward from here.
It had been a natural disaster–was everything going to be blamed on him now?
If so, that was completely unfair to him.
The principal let out a sigh.
He didn’t even have the energy to keep an eye on John, who was still focused on the search.
He could only pray for himself now.
At least John still had a job–he, on the other hand, was truly at the end of the road.
But no one around showed any sympathy for the principal.
This auditorium had been built during his term.
He had insisted on making it grand and luxurious, hoping to attract more students.
But because of that, the building’s foundation hadn’t been properly laid.
In fact, it had been rushed to completion.
Everyone was focused on the rescue, and Grace grew increasingly anxious, her heart in turmoil.
She might have been strict with Aurora, but that was still her daughter.
How could she not feel pain?
Her only daughter was now buried underneath the rubble.
one was just a teenager, in the prime of her youth.
How could a life so young be buried here like this?
The thought nearly crushed Grace with guilt.
She hadn’t been a good mother. She didn’t deserve to be one.
Her daughter was almost an adult, yet she hadn’t fulfilled her responsibilities as a parent.
She was an unfit mother!
Arnold could see how distressed she was and came to her side to comfort her.
“Madam, please don’t be too upset. I believe Miss Aurora is blessed. She’ll be alright.
“She’s always been clever. No matter what she faced, she always managed to pull through. This time will be no different.”
Though Arnold was only trying to console her, his words still brought Grace a sliver of comfort.
At least someone understood how she was feeling.
In truth, Grace didn’t even fully understand it herself.
Whenever she was around Tessa, she just couldn’t help but want to treat her well, and then she’d end up neglecting Aurora.
Anyone could see which of the two girls truly mattered more.
But Grace simply couldn’t control her emotions…
Now, she couldn’t afford to dwell on it.
The more she thought, the worse she felt.
Her whole body trembled uncontrollably.
Arnold gently urged, “Madam, maybe it’s better if you head back for now. I’ll stay here and wait.”
