While speaking, Megan quietly took small steps backward.
But it didn’t take long for one of the smarter ones to catch on.
One of the thugs stepped right past Aurora and quickly blocked Megan’s path.
“Hey now, sweetheart, we’re being real nice to you, and you’re trying to play tricks on us?”
His patience was wearing thin. “You think we’re a bunch of idiots??
“Call your dad, huh? If your dad doesn’t call the cops, I’ll eat shit standing on my head.”
As he spoke, he slammed the stick in his hand hard against the nearby wall with a loud bang.
The heavy thud startled Megan so badly she dropped to the ground too terrified to even know where to look.

Crouching down, she wrapped her arms tightly around her head.
Her wide eyes were locked on the stick in front of her, terrified it might be aimed at her next.
She didn’t dare say a word, lips pressed shut, holding her breath.
Seeing her like that only seemed to entertain the thugs more.

Aurora’s eyes burned red with rage.
