Soon, the printer began humming.
The first page slid out.

Alice picked up the paper and handed it to Nelson.
“This is my handwriting.”
Nelson hadn’t thought much of it at first. But now, he examined it more carefully.
The calculations on the page matched exactly with the data Pandora had submitted earlier.
But the handwriting was clearly different.
It looked like it had been painstakingly written out by someone else–someone who had spent long, sleepless nights copying it down.
There wasn’t a trace of it being printed.
He froze, completely stunned.
He couldn’t believe his own eyes.
As someone who worked in tech, Nelson never imagined the same field could betray him in this way.
“These days, most papers look the same. And considering this paper was written within the last year, it’s even harder to tell. The handwriting simulation software I used was developed overseas. It combines samples and creates convincing imitations.”
Alice glanced up.
“The original developer? Some hacker on the dark web. The software was eventually banned in most countries due to massive misuse. But a few people downloaded it before it was pulled. And since the dark web’s servers are still running, the program still works.”

But Alice seemed utterly unfazed.
She didn’t even blink at Pandora’s hateful glare.
“If you’ve done wrong, you have to face the consequences,” she said,
She opened a previously unviewed surveillance video.
The footage played.
It showed Pandora using her phone, texting someone.
Following the instructions, she downloaded an app.
But she didn’t notice her antivirus flashing a warning.
Even when prompted to uninstall the antivirus software, she followed through.

As the medicine dissolved, Nelson–who had been on the brink–suddenly looked revived.
Byron breathed a sigh of relief.
“You just scared the life out of me, but you’re fine now.”
Nelson wasn’t just any professor–he was a cornerstone of the university, tied to several national–level research projects.
To put it bluntly, he was their cash cow.
“I don’t deserve to live!”
Nelson’s eyes welled with tears.
All these years, he’d been targeted by spies because of the research he carried.
To protect his work, he trusted almost no one.
