She paused briefly, then added, “If you ever end up having kids, I’ll be ready with a huge present for my future niece or nephew.”
Alice shook her head. “That’s not gonna happen.”
“Huh?”
“I won’t have children. I’ll probably be divorced within a year.”
“Wait–are you saying Eric’s bad in bed?”
“Don’t be stupid.”
That only made Risa more curious. “So you’ve done it? How’s his stamina? Can he go for hours or what?”
“… Let’s just go eat.”
“No way! This gossip is way more exciting than dinner!”
“Risa, you’ve got nothing but nonsense in your brain.”
“Come on, spill it!”
Risa kept pushing, and Alice felt a headache coming on. Right when she was about to reply, her phone buzzed.
She glanced at the caller ID.
“Stop it. It’s Eric.”
Risa groaned. “You’ve only been out for a bit. He already can’t stand it?”
Alice picked up and found out something had gone wrong back at the old mansion.
“I can’t do dinner tonight.”
She hung up and started gathering her things.
Risa looked disappointed. “Wow, so this is what they mean by ditching your girls for a guy, hu
“Yep, bailing on your friends for love.
“Either way, I’m the one getting dumped.”
Alice replied flatly, “Getting ditched isn’t so bad. I tip my hat to you.”
Having grown up and studied abroad, Risa wasn’t familiar with the local idiom. But she caught the meaning and perked right up.
“If I’m that impressive, why not introduce me to your husband’s circle?”

Alice rolled her eyes helplessly.
“Eric doesn’t hang out with any handsome guys. Don’t get your hopes up.”
Risa immediately slumped. “You’re married, and I’m still single.”
Alice couldn’t help laughing.
“You’ve got about eight boyfriends. When I asked to take one, you flat–out refused.”

Risa grinned. “That’s because I love them all! Letting you take one would feel like losing a piece of my soul.”
Alice never shared Risa’s views on love, but she respected her.
“If you want to do business with the Nolan Group, I can set something up.”
Risa immediately turned serious. “Alice, you’re the best.”
Alice knew the Nolan Group wasn’t what it used to be. Back/when Eric was still active, he had a major influence overseas. But after spending three years in a coma, everything crumbled.
The only upside was that people still recognized Eric as the head of the group.
If he stepped up again, Risa would save a lot of time..
Alice reminded her, “But I’m not making any promises.”
Risa asked hopefully, “Not even if you sweet–talk him a little?”
“That won’t help.” Alice shrugged.
Risa rubbed her head. “Ugh. You’re tougher than anyone. I’ll handle it on my own.”
They both knew business and friendship weren’t the same. They never mixed the two.
So, Alice didn’t feel guilty. She soon left after reminding Risa to stay out of trouble in Drakoria.
Eric was already waiting near the hotel.
As Alice came out, she spotted his sleek black car
But her gaze paused on a black van parked under a nearby tree.
Inside, Kaleb and Levi looked a little uneasy.
Kaleb asked, “Levi, do you think she noticed us?”
Levi tapped the glass. “These windows are tinted–she can’t see us. But I’ve got a feeling she knows we’re watching.”
Kaleb’s eyes
widened. “For real? She’s that aware?”
Levi took a deep breath. “I’ve said it before. She’s not just a regular woman.

Kaleb still looked doubtful. “You might be giving her too much credit.”
He looked down at his phone.
“Your cousin from the Martinezes… What’s her name again?”
Levi lit a cigarette and replied, “Yvette”
“Right, Yvette.” Kaleb nodded, scrolling. “The Martinezes have influence. I think it’s worth trying t connect through them.”
Levi shook his head. “They just see me as a performer. They don’t take me seriously
“So, you mean
“Find out what Mrs. Nolan’s into. I think she might be the link we need.”
Kaleb wasn’t quite on board, but Levi had made up his mind, so he went with it.
Meanwhile, Alice had already slipped into Eric’s car.
Kaleb looked out the window again but couldn’t spot her.
“Where’d she go?”
Just then, the vehicle behind them flicked on its headlights and pulled off fast.
Kaleb caught the license plate and blinked in surprise.
“Mr. Eric came to pick her up himself?”
Levi’s gut feeling just grew stronger.
