One of them looked up and said politely, “Ms. Spencer, there may be some follow–up questions. Please don’t leave the building just yet.”
Alice gave a small smile. “Of course. I’ll work with you, officers.”
The officer nodded and thanked her before calling in the next person.
When Alice stepped back into the hallway, her eyes landed on Ruby and Sandy at the far end.
Ruby walked over quickly, wearing a smile that looked more like a mask.
“May I have a moment, Alice?”
Alice glanced behind them and gestured casually.
“I need to talk to my husband.”
Ruby turned to look.
That’s when she noticed Eric and Daniel standing nearby. Her smile froze in place.
“Oh, yes, we can do this together. I’ll wait,” she offered stiffly.
Alice nodded. “Sure. Hang tight.”
She turned and walked straight toward Eric.
Sandy clenched her fists. The anger in her eyes was almost spilling out.
“She’s doing this on purpose, Mom,” she hissed.,
Ruby was furious too, but she had no choice.
Alice had all the cards now.
Even if she slapped Sandy across the face, Ruby couldn’t say a word.
She had to endure it.
Alice approached Eric with a slight grin.
“Worried someone might pick on me, Mr. Eric?”
Eric glanced at Ruby and Sandy, then looked back at Alice. His voice was calm.
“Perhaps I should worry less about you and more about the people you run into.”
Alice raised her brows and gave him a slow wink. “That’s a weird way to say you care about me. Mr. Eric Should’ve never expected this guy to be good with words.
He didn’t even blink. “It’s the least I can do.”

She gave a soft sigh. “You’re ridiculous.”
“They’re ready to talk,” he said, his eyes darkening just a bit.
Alice’s voice stayed light.
“You taught Sandy a
$son. I was just running cleanup.”
Eric looked at her for a beat, then said, “You built the firewall. You must’ve known the second she touched it.”
If she had spoken up earlier, Sandy would’ve been stopped before she got in too deep. She might have gotten off easy.
But Alice had kept quiet. She let Sandy dig her own hole.
Alice tilted her head, her smirk growing. “So… we’re not so different after all?”
Daniel took a small step back. These two were sharper than steel.
Eric’s tone dropped. “What do you want?”
Alice shrugged. “You already know I couldn’t care less about your company.”
The way she said that made it sting.
Daniel lit up like he’d just found the final puzzle piece in a love story.
“So, Mrs. Nolan … you’re doing all this for Mr. Eric?”
His voice was full of awe, like he couldn’t believe someone could be that loyal.
In his eyes, Alice had walked away from real power and swallowed all of Ruby and Sandy’s cheap shots- just to stand beside Eric.
“Mrs. Nolan, you’re killing me. I could cry right now.”
Alice gave him a dry look. “Just so you know, I can’t cure death.”
Daniel held his chest like she’d just punched him in the soul. “Oh, you’re going to make me crazy from all this love you’re showing for Mr. Eric.”
She stepped back a bit, her tone laced with fake disgust.
“Then stay back. I don’t deal with crazy.”
Daniel froze. Yep. The love story was clearly one–sided.
Ruby didn’t want to waste another second. She walked up with Sandy at her side.
“Can we talk now?”
Alice glanced at Eric, waiting.
Chapter 103 Discussion
He didn’t move. His face stayed stone cold.
Daniel stepped in with a smile.
“Ms. Randall, you busy or something?”
Ruby had no choice but to play along.
“Not at all.”
“As you can see, they’re catching up. Maybe you could wait just a little longer?”

Then he tilted his head and asked, syrupy–sweet, “You are their mom, aren’t you? Don’t you want to see them getting closer?”
Ruby clenched her teeth so hard her jaw tightened.
She should’ve thrown Daniel and his brother out the second Eric ended up in that hospital bed.
One bad decision, and now she was eating dirt.
Sandy’s face turned red.
Her temper was already hanging by a thread, and this tipped it over.
“You-”
Ruby shut her down with one sharp look.
Sandy remembered what was at stake. She swallowed every bitter word. She needed them to bail her out.
Alice chuckled. “Alright. Let’s take this to the lounge.”
Daniel ran ahead like an overexcited intern and pulled the door open. “Right this way, Mrs. Nolan.”
Alice turned toward Eric. “You coming?”
Finally, some of the frost in his eyes melted. He nodded and walked beside her.
Sandy glared at their backs like she wanted to set them on fire.
“Mom, I swear they’re gonna pay.”
Ruby caught her hand and held it firm.
“Sandy, no matter what they say, keep your mouth shut.”
“But Mom-”
“Trust me. I’ve got this.”
Ruby gave her a calm look, steady and sure.
Sandy still hated every second of it, but she nodded.
