Chapter 3
“I’d like to know the answer to that as well,” I male voice that resonates deep into my soul says from behind me.
I turn seeing the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen in my life. He’s got the curly black hair with a wayward curl that is falling over his forehead. He has blue–grey eyes that stand out in his tanned skin. They are so intense that I can’t look away. And he’s wearing a white button- down shirt and black slacks with black loafers. If I had conjured up the sexiest man I could think of, I wouldn’t have come close to this man. He looks like something the Moon Goddess made with her own two hands then breathed him into life.
Now Beta Dorian stands. “Who the fuck are you?”
“My name is Christian Webb,” he says, looking completely
unperturbed that he walked into the middle of a pack argument that has nothing to do with him.
“Well, pup, do yourself a favor, turn around and get out of this pack before you regret it.”
“No,” he says, standing his ground. I’ve heard of men like him, of Alphas like him because that’s exactly what he is, an Alpha. He can’t be much older than I am, but the confidence, the energy emanating off him is unli anything I’ve ever seen or felt before.
“The fuck you say?” Beta Dorian growls.
“Do you have wax in your ears .” he lifts his nose in the air, sniffing, “Beta?”
Chapter 3
Beta Dorian rushes him, ready to attack. The Alpha, Alpha Christian doesn’t move. He stands waiting for Beta Dorian to get close enough and when he does, he throat punches him with enough force that he wheezes and falls to the ground unable to breathe.
“Get behind me.” Shane says quietly.
“He’s just one man, Shane.” I say, just as quietly, watching Gamma
Braden move closer to us.
“One Alpha that just took down our Beta,” he says, shoving me behind him.
I watch as Corey, Dexter, and three other warriors stand and attack the Alpha. He takes out all five of them quickly, easily, and without breaking a sweat. I’m pretty sure I heard noses break, shoulders dislocate, and knees pop out of joint.
He runs his fingers through that curly hair before turning to look at the rest of us.
“Anyone else?”

When I pulled up to the guard gate of Alpha Shane’s pack, currently my pack, the guard stopped me as expected.
“I’m Alpha Christian Webb. I’ve been sent by the Council to run this pack until Alpha Shane reaches the age of maturity,” I tell him, handing h the paperwork I received from the Council indicating my authority to take over this pack.
“Oh, thank the goddess,” the man said, reading over my paperwork.
“Problem?” I ask. Another warrior steps up, reading over the first guy’s

shoulder.
“Yeah. You’ve got a group who aren’t happy that they are being asked to follow a sixteen year old Alpha who isn’t acting like an Alpha. Mind you, he’s grieving the sudden loss of both parents, and most of the rest of us are too. But you know how packs can be, and well…” he stops, looking at the second warrior.
“Just tell him,” she says.
“It seems like our Beta is instigating a take over. I can’t prove it, but those of us who are supportive of our young Alpha are out here running patrols until we’re nearly dead on our feet and those who are supporting the Beta are sitting pretty, barely running patrols at all. Instead, they seem to be inside harassing our young Alphas, trying to intimidate them.”
“Good to know,” I said. “That ends today,” I tell them as they pass back the paperwork.”
“Alpha Christian, welcome to the pack,” he says and I begin making my way to the packhouse.
I’m not surprised that the pack is in chaos. That’s why I’ve been called in. But it is disappointing to hear that the Beta is instigating that type of behavior. So, when I walk into a shitshow, I’m not surprised.
After dropping the Beta and five warriors, I casually ask if anyone else wants to take me on.
“No one? Cod,” I say as the Beta continues choking, trying to get his throat working while the other four roll around on the ground in pain. I think two are unconscious. I made sure not to kill any of them, not yet. But after I officially become Alpha, any insubordination will result in immediate death and I intend to tell them that.
Chapter 3
I unbutton the cuffs of my button–down shirt. I dressed up for today, ready to make a good impression and now I have blood splatter on my white dress shirt. At least the pants are black.
