Chapter 95 Arrogant Assistant
“Courtesy’s always been little more than a stranger to you.”
Alice didn’t wait for an answer. She turned and walked off.
That guy never said anything decent.
He’s more annoying than that blasted orange!
Eric followed right behind her, step for step.
Like a loyal wallet, doing exactly what he was told.
The scene turns to the cafe.

Upstairs, in a quiet booth tucked in the corner, Boston sat with a half–empty cup. His eyes narrowed when he saw them walk through the door. “What the hell is she doing here?”
His assistant leaned closer.
“Nolan Group’s been clashing with Levi. You know Levi’s got some strong support behind him. He’s not about to let things slide.”
Boston let out a cold laugh.
“So now she wants me to play the middleman? Please. Even if Levi and I weren’t fighting for the same resources–hell, even if we were, tight–I still wouldn’t help her.”
The assistant finally let out a breath. “Good. I thought you might actually help her out. If you did, that deal we just got would be in Levi’s hands by tomorrow.”
Boston stirred his drink slowly, then took a sip.
“This coffee’s not half bad. Sit down and give it a try. We’ve still got some filming to do later.”
The assistant lit up and quickly ordered his own.
He sat down across from Boston.
“But what if she shows up and starts begging for your help?”
Boston’s expression darkened.
“She wouldn’t be the first one to beg for my help–wouldn’t be the last either. People have been begging me for years.”

This time, the assistant really did relax.
Boston let out a low sigh.
“Any leads on that scammer?”

The assistant shook his head. “Word’s out. We’ve got some hands on deck, but you know how this works. You’re in the spotlight now–we can’t go loud. We’ve gotta move quiet.”
Boston wasn’t a top–tier star, but he had a solid following.
He’d saved up a good chunk over the years.
But the industry burned through cash fast. Every opportunity came with a price tag.
He’d tried to buy his way onto a red carpet at an international fashion event. Turned out, it was all a scam.
All his savings, gone in one shot. Not even a single dime was left behind.
By the time he figured it out, the scammer had vanished.
And along with the disappearance was the chance of getting his money back.
If that hadn’t happened, he could’ve pitched in when his family was strapped for cash.
But truth was, he didn’t have a cent to spare.
Boston rubbed his temples. “Alright. Keep your eye on the payment from the last drama. I need that money now.”
“Got it. I’ve been watching it close.”
The assistant had a reason to care–his paycheck was tied to it as well.
Then his phone buzzed.
He picked up, listened, then hung up. His face tightened.
“Your sister’s coming up.”
Boston looked like he’d had enough. His voice was sharp with irritation.
“She’s just a nobody from the boonies we took in. We gave her money. We married her into the Nolans, What else could she possibly want?”
His assistant gave a dry laugh.

“Some people just don’t know when to stop.”
Boston pulled in a deep breath, slow and heavy.
“Very well. If she knocks, you deal with her.”
The assistant gave a quick nod. “Of course.”

Alice and Eric ordered coffee, then they asked for a private booth.
The first floor was rambunctious, to say the least. Alice liked quiet, so they headed upstairs.
She had no idea Boston was there.
As they walked up, she noticed the floor was packed with bodyguards and men in sunglasses. Everyone looked on edge.
She didn’t care enough to find out what was going on. She found her booth and reached for the door.
Eric walked in first. She was right behind.
But before she could step through, someone called out.
“Ms. Spencer.”
A man stood nearby, dressed in a black suit, with sunglasses covering his face. A smirk played at his lips as he looked her way.
Alice glanced around. She was the only woman nearby. “Are you talking to me?”
“Yes.”
He stepped closer and finally took off his shades. It was Boston’s assistant.
Alice barely recognized him. She’d hardly spoken to anyone from the Spencers, and her brother was just a distant name to her. There was no way she’d know his assistant.
The man acted like they were old friends. He pointed at the booth. “Mind if we talk inside?”
Alice gave a thin, unfriendly smile. “Why? You’ve got this whole floor locked down. No one else can hear us anyway.”
The assistant raised his brows. He hadn’t expected that.

He thought a bumpkin shouldn’t have been able to see through that so quickly.
Then he remembered–she was the Nolan heir’s wife now.
Of course she’d been trained.
He didn’t dwell on it. He got straight to the point.
“I’m glad you’re making this easier for all of us.
“Look, you may be his sister, but he doesn’t owe you a damn thing. Don’t get any funny ideas.
Alice frowned. She didn’t know what he was talking about.
But he didn’t give her a chance to ask.
“Don’t play dumb. I know what you’re up to, you bumpkin. It’s a big world out here, and you’re only having a taste of it after all these years. Of course you’d cling to the first celebrity you laid your eyes on.
“But this world isn’t as simple as you think. You’d better drop whatever little game you’ve got in mind.”
