Meanwhile, the Fashion Design Council president, Gerald Montgomery, had stars in his eyes. “Genius! This is genius–level work!” 

Elliot quickly shielded the samples with his arms like he was guarding a treasure. “I got here first. These are mine!” 

He turned toward Eric eagerly. 

“Mr. Nolan, we’ve known each other a long time. Whatever it takes, I have to work with you on this. Name your price. 

Gerald’s face darkened. “You’re basically hijacking the project. What kind of gentleman are you?” 

“Hmph. This is the first time in my life I’ve seen Dunvale–style pattern fapted to fashion. I’m not backing down.”

But today, everyone stared at the two old men, and all that poise and courtesy were completely gone.

Alice glanced sideways at Halsey, who stood there like a frozen puppet. 

She leaned in and whispered. “Too bad, Nolan Group originally wanted to work with you, Hawkin.”

Now, both Gerald and Elliot turned to stare at Halsey in shock.

“Too bad as Mr. Hawkin didn’t think these designs were good enough. He’s already turned us 

down. 

Both Elliot and Gerald’s eyes went wide, 

Then, their faces lit up with joy in an instant. 

“So you’re saying that we still have a shot?” 

Elliot pointed at himself with both hands, looking almost giddy. 

“That’s me! Young lady, you’re beautiful and kind. You wouldn’t let an old guy like me walk away empty–handed, right?” 

Gerald swatted the back of Elliot’s head.

Then he turned to Alice with a goofy grin, practically sucking up. 

“Girl, look at me. I’m easy to work with and super friendly. You can tell, right?” 

Alice was speechless. 

She rubbed her temples and pointed toward Eric, 

“He’s the one in charge of the design department.” 

Both of them immediately rushed over to Eric’s wheelchair, switching to full–on charm mode. 

They flattered him like they’d do anything he asked.

If they had gone with that company, the profit margin wouldn’t have been much. 

But working directly with the Academy of Art or the Fashion Design Council? The profits could triple.

Halsey’s face was reddened from shame and anger. 

But there was nothing he could say to Alice. All he could do was glare at Damon. 

This whole mess had started because he listened to Damon and assumed Eric was just trying to ride on his former reputation to save the design department.
