To make matters worse, Daniel didn’t seem to notice the chill coming from Eric at all. 

He was acting like Alice’s assistant around the clock. 

Eric was speechless. 

Henry did show up 

after they finished breakfast. 

Compared to how energetic he used to be, he now looked like he had aged a decade. overnight. 

The wrinkles on his face had deepened significantly. 

And more than half of his hair had turned white. 

Alice was a little taken aback. 

She almost didn’t recognize Henry at all. 

Henry’s voice was a little hoarse when he spoke. 

“Mrs. Nolan, I’ve delivered your wedding gift. This is the heart pendant you specifically asked for. Thank God I managed to deliver it before you guys left for work. I hope you’re satisfied with it.” 

Alice never used to read too much into people’s words. 

But the moment Henry finished his last sentence, she immediately sensed the reluctance behind his words. 

She could tell that many in the old mansion couldn’t stand her and Eric, which naturally brought to mind the Nolan Group’s inheritance conflict. 

Given all that, Henry’s petty tricks didn’t seem worth fussing over anymore. 

After all, compared to the tangled power plays and internal sabotage within the Nolan family, Henry’s little manipulations posed no real threat. 

Unfortunately, Eric had never been one to let things slide. 

“Henry, you delayed the wedding gift for three days. That’s unacceptable.” 

Eric’s tone was icy. “Did Grandma say how she plans to punish you?”

Henry’s heart jolted violently. 

He had come to drive a wedge, but Eric saw through him and turned the tables. 

“Mr. Nolan, 1… 

Daniel cut in without hesitation, offering no courtesy. 

“I heard you won’t be allowed to manage the old mansion anymore.” 

That meant Henry would now be no different from any ordinary servant in the old mansion. 

Henry had served the Nolans his entire life. He used to assume he held a degree of respect in front of everyone. 

Yet here he was, nearly cast out. 

As the saying goes, it’s easy to trample on someone who’s already fallen. Only now did he realize how ridiculous his self–importance had been all these years. 

Even though Daniel was mocking him now, he wasn’t angry. He just felt incredibly bitter. 

After a brief silence, Eric spoke slowly. 

“I received news yesterday that your granddaughter, Lucy, is planning to go abroad to further her studies.” 

Henry’s face turned ashen. 

He wanted to respond, but he couldn’t find the words. 

He assumed Eric had brought it up simply to mock him. 

He had once been loyal to Irene. 

He never imagined she’d turn around and sell Lucy out. 

It felt like such a slap to the face, He felt like he couldn’t even hold his head up, not after what he’d done. 

He was too ashamed to look anyone in the eye. 

“But I decided to stop her. I had a better option in mind for her.” 

Henry froze. 

Then he suddenly looked up, eyes wide.

He stared at the man in front of him in disbelief. 

His whole body trembled as he asked in a low voice, “Ts… is it really true??) 

Daniel let out a cold snort. “Of course it’s true. Mr. Nolan would never lie to you 

Henry was so overwhelmed that he nearly jumped with joy. 

His eyes instantly filled with tears. 

Eric’s voice remained cool. 

“I just thought, since she wants to go abroad to continue her studies, there’s no need for her to go to a less developed country. 

“She should study in one of the developed countries, then come back and work at the Nolan Group.” 

Daniel turned around and pulled out an acceptance letter from the drawer beside him. 

“This is the admission letter from Jenswick University. Lucy will be studying financial management once she’s there.” 

Eric left it at that and said no more. 

Henry had served the Nolan family for decades. 

Naturally, he was well–versed in elite universities and the reputations that followed them. 

Jenswick University was located in Yvaria and ranked among the top three in the world. 

Its finance program was one of the most sought–after programs globally. 

Lucy had dreamed of getting into Jenswick University for years, but for various reasons, she had never been accepted. 

He hadn’t expected Eric to actually make it happen. 

He clutched the admission letter to his chest and started crying. 

Tears streamed down his face/uncontrollably. 

“Mr. Nolan, you are my savior!” 

He had always adored Lucy and treated her like the apple of his eye. 

All these years, watching Lucy get suppressed by Sandy had pained him deeply.
