After signing a few documents, she overheard some gossip. 

“Mr. Hawkin went to the design department next door. Judging by the sound of it, things aren’t looking good.” 

“Such a shame. Mr. Nolan used to be a genius, and now he has to stoop so low just to ask for help. 

“I heard Mr. Hawkin is the mentor of Mrs. Nolan’s brother. Do you think Mrs. Nolan might help?” 

Alice ignored them, her fingers tapping steadily on the keyboard. 

However, the chatter didn’t stop. 

“I heard the design department submitted seven proposals. Mr. Hawkin’s seen them all. Guess what happened?”

“Those in the design department were supposed to be the elites of Nolan Group. But Mr. Hawkin rejected every single one of the proposals. He even said that the design department was a shadow of its former self, and that their well of inspiration had run dry.” 

“Wow, that’s kind of insulting, isn’t it?” 

While everyone was indignant about Halsey’s remark, an email was sent from Alice’s computer. 

She glanced at the time on her watch and gave a quiet chuckle. 

Her cool expression carried a hint of playful mockery. 

Then, she slowly stood up.

When Alice walked in, Halsey was in the middle of giving his critique. 

“Mr. Nolan, you really were gifted back in the day. 

“But now, you’ve lost your edge.” 

“I don’t even know what to say anymore, but… 

Halsey let out a long sigh, as if he genuinely felt sorry for Eric. 

“My advice to you is this–stay grounded, and stop chasing fame and gain.” 

His message to Eric was clear: go back to being a vegetable. This place isn’t for you. 

Daniel’s fists clenched tight. If not for the people holding him back, he would’ve rushed forward and beat Halsey up. 

However, Halsey didn’t seem to notice the danger. 

He smiled, as if he were a kindly elder genuinely concerned about Eric. 

“Mr. Nolan, to be honest, I once thought about taking you as a student. But…

Upon hearing Halsey’s words, Alice couldn’t help letting out a scornful laugh. 

That was because the design department had gone awkwardly quiet. No one knew what to

Her laughter made everyone freeze and look in her direction. 

Without hesitation, she stepped away from the doorway and walked straight to Eric’s side. 

After several days of healing baths, Eric no longer needed a wheelchair. 

But when he came to work, he still used one. She wasn’t sure why. Perhaps he had done that to lower Ruby’s guard.

Alice placed her hand on the wheelchair and looked at the seven design drafts laid out on the table.
