Right now, the smartest move was getting Joseph to actually be useful.
He needed to stop overthinking and focus on securing that land.

And then, even if he wanted to be with Judy, maybe his parents wouldn’t have any reason to object.

They’d handed him a small division to manage, which clearly meant they were grooming him.
Eventually, the entire company would be his.
That much, he was sure of.
His father had no other sons.
He was the only heir, which meant the business would fall to him.
He didn’t need to worry about inheritance or competition.
Sometimes, Joseph really did feel lucky to have such supportive parents.
He didn’t have to stress about much.
All he had to do was wait, and everything would come to him.
As long as nothing too drastic happened, the company would be his in the end.
That was one thing he truly appreciated.
At the very least, his father had been reliable; he hadn’t fathered a bunch of half–siblings outside the family.
If he had, Joseph would’ve had nowhere to cry.
He was fully aware of his own capabilities.
He knew exactly where he stood.
Otherwise, his father wouldn’t have to worry about him so much.
