Chapter 7
Lily’s POV
I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the small card in my hand that detailed the doctor’s appointment. After hours of emotional numbness, I finally summoned the courage to call and schedule a follow–up appointment with the doctor. The most difficult moment was when I had another pregnancy test at the clinic, and the result confirmed what I already knew.
“Your baby is about the size of a blueberry now,” the doctor pointed at the ultrasound
screen, speaking gently.
I nodded but deliberately didn’t listen to her words, letting my thoughts drift elsewhere. I had always imagined this moment to be filled with joy, maybe with a loving partner by my side holding my hand. However, the reality was that I was alone, full of fear, and contemplating choices I never thought I would have to face.
I need…. information about abortion clinics,” I whispered to the doctor before leaving.
Back in my cramped apartment, I stared at the brochures she had given me. Logic told me that abortion was the solution to my problem. If I could terminate this pregnancy quickly, I wouldn’t develop any attachment to the life growing inside me. I could get back to my normal routine, dance at the nightclub, pay the bills, and continue living. Everything would go back to normal.
But deep down, a different thought echoed: I didn’t want an abortion. I wanted to keep my baby, to have something that was entirely mine. The thought of dancing at the nightclub while pregnant made me nauseous. The idea of strangers staring at my body, at my baby, filled me with disgust. This was not what I wanted, and I had to find another
way out.
Derek!” I called out, stopping him just as he was about to close the nightclub office door.
He turned around, raised an eyebrow, and flashed his signature charming smile. It was probably the first time I had approached him since I started working there. “What’s up, Little Chipmunk?”

I shifted uncomfortably. “Can you arrange for me to work in the bar area tonight?”
Derek’s smile faltered slightly, and he draped his arm over my shoulder, leading me into his office. The office was spotless, just like him, everything neatly arranged. “Are you feeling unwell again?” he asked, a concerned expression on his face, trying to figure something out.
“No, I mean, yes, maybe a little, but I can still work… just can’t dance,” I stammered, avoiding his gaze.
Derek leaned on his desk, checking the scheduling on his tablet. “You know, I’ll talk to my brother about this.” William was a person who took everything very seriously and was cold to everyone, which was why I went to Derek first – he was even willing to talk to his
brother for me.
“Is that okay?” I asked, trying to sound friendly, hoping he would overlook me, and luckily,
he did.
“Sure, go ahead, no problem,” Derek insisted with a kind smile.
As I turned to leave, feeling relieved, I accidentally bumped into someone solid and strong. A pair of familiar green eyes met mine. It was Nathan. My heart raced involuntarily, fear and excitement intertwining within me.
“Is this some kind of habit of yours?” he teased in a low voice.
“I… I’m sorry,” I murmured, lowering my head.
“Since you’re here,” Derek said to Nathan, “Little Chipmunk will be working in the bar tonight. She’s not feeling well.”
“Look at me,” Nathan commanded, his tone unwavering.
I met his gaze, and he circled me slowly, his eyes focused. “You still look terrible.”
‘Yeah, because I’m carrying your baby,‘ I thought bitterly.
“Is this okay then?” Derek interrupted my thoughts, asking.
Nathan shrugged nonchalantly. “I don’t care if you make the girls dance around the fire. Arrange it as you wish.”

My heart sank. If I told him about my pregnancy, would he still be so indifferent?
“I just came to give you this,” Nathan said, handing a folder to Derek. Then, his hand
lightly rested on my lower back. “I’ll take you to the bar. Let’s go.”
